Default overheat and weird issue

Ok ,so me and my gf were about to drive 300 miles. We drove for about 15 minutes and then my car overheated and shut itself off.

I will use the picture below to illustrate.

I looked at the engine. At point 1 the hose was clamped on to point 2. At point 3, there was lots of smoke being dispensed. I noticed that the one hose was clamped onto point 2. So I figured the point 3 would need to clamp to point 4. Now when I look online that is not the case. But, the car runs fine now with a hose from 1 to 2 and a hose from 3 to 4. Though it leaks slightly onto the timing belt, which cant be good.

So, do I just need a hose from 1 to 3 and thats all?

Are you talking about running hoses from your radiator to those timing cover bolts? From the picture it lookes like point 1 is the coolant overflow tube going into the degasing tank, point 3 being where it connects to the radiator, and point 2 and 4 being timing cover bolts. Correct me if I'm seing it wrong. You shouldn't have any tube running from the cooling system to anything other than the cooling system.

I recently got some work done on my car and since then the heating system hasnt worked. When I open the hood, a hose is connecting point 1 to point 2.

So tell me this. The hose that connects on the top of the coolant tank should be running and connecting to spot number 3 right? Someone fkd with my car where I had it worked on....

I am pretty sure that is what he is trying to say that one is to go to three but not totally sure.

yeah i figured it out.

Its just, the mechanic I had my car at mustve put the end of the hose that goes to the degassing tank on one of the timing cover bolts. Was just really confusing for me since I have never removed them or really noticed where they went before.

thanks guys.
