Engine Swap
Ok so I have a 05 V6 Mustang and was looking into swapping in a 5.4L engine. I know what your thinking save money buy a new car, however I have no payments for this car so id rather build this car up then make payments for a lot of years. So im looking for any comments on what companies to look for this and also if anyone know what I will need to replace in the car to get ready for the new power. I am new top this idea so please anything you can add would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I don't know of any compaines making a drop in kit. Your gonna have to source the motor out. You will need to figure out if you want to go EFI or Carb as they do sell single plane manifolds for 2v's that can work with 5.4's as well. So figure that out. Then you can figure out if you want to use Ford electronics or go with an aftermarket unit for the electronics. After that you need to see about mounting the motor in the engine bay. I don't know if the 05+ cars use the same K-member as the v8 cars or not. So you need to figure that. Of course the 7.5 rear end needs to be replaced with a Ford 8.8 or even a 9" if you are going to push **** tons of power. Then there is suspension and brake mods etc... etc..... just start your research and see what you can come up with. Or you could turbocharger your motor and be faster....

I found this http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=9560
not sure if it would fit in my car but i would assume so since the body styles are the same could be wrong. I'm not sure about mounting it still need to figure that out and do you think the gt suspension and brakes would be good enough for the time being cause its a lot cheaper to just get take off parts.

Jesus ******* christ, you do realize that engine is worth at least double what your cars worth. If your willing and able to buy that engine why dont you just sell you sixxer and find a rolling chasis or at least a gt to start with.

You might want to look at finding a used engine and then rebuilding it and forging everything. Will be lots cheaper than trying to buy a GT500 engine. If you don't want or can afford a car payment, then there's no way you're going to be able to buy that engine. See what engine fits, find a wrecked car that has the motor and be on your way.
Spike's suggestion was good too, just go turbo and call it a day. Less hassle and heartaches.

I'm not the most tech savey person out there so I would have to have a shop do most of the engine build if I were to rebuild it + the parts would probably end up being a similar price. Also there are a a few threads out there of people who know way more then me and all I've been reading about is problem after problem with the build so I'm hesitant to take that route. also I may not be able to afford the motor right now but this also isn't gonna be something that's gonna be done tomorrow so I have time. I don't wanna just turbo my engine and call it a day I know it would be easier and less hassle but its just not what I want but thanks for all the suggestions.
