If it says premium only then only run 91 or 93.

Cobras run on Premium/Supreme octane, go with that. There is no need to go higher unless you've done some mods that require it like Redneck says.

Is Chervon American? I only go to Chervon for my Street Bike and my Car, no where else unless I HAVE TO.

You beat me to it. I think premium is the highest you can get at Gas Stations.

My Car - Regular
My Street Bike - Premium/Supreme.

In the 05 + Gt's doesn't it say that if you put a higher octane in it it will make more torque? I swore I read this in the owners manual - I know it'll run fine on 87, but I normally fill with 93 because of what the manual says.

Pyrosis you have a Cobra they are tuned from the factory to run AND take advantage of the extra energy in "Premium" 93 octane fuel. We have GT's made to run off of 87 octane. When in doubt, read your owner's manual; they did make the car from the ground up. And using higher octane to get more torque? No.

05+ have a knock sensor IIRC. That would allow the ECU to sorta figure out the knock resistance of the fuel currently in use and it'll be able to pull timing or advance timing as the stability of the fuel dictates. With added octane you can run added timing and make more power. So yeah, if you want the extra 1-2hp run premium. Your call. I'd advise against it until you are running a custom tune that's not as flexible.

Pyro, you MUST use premium or you'll buy another motor in no time. Cobras are either high compression or supercharged which mandates the added octane. The knock sensor and VCT and electronic ignition timing on the 05+ cars allows them to run 10:1 compression and 87 octane which is usually not a good idea. Cobras are another story. I can't stress enough that if you run a 96-04 cobra you should use premium fuel. I've seen busted pistons from a 99 snake that rattled itself to death on 87. Icky.

thanks for all the input everyone. I will ride out the 93 in the tank and go with 87 until I get the xcal3.

Unless the station happens to carry E85 or race fuel. But most just carry 3 grades of standard gas.

For the v6 and GT cars we don't need anything but 87 unless you had a power adder, built motor with more compression, or a tune that changes and adds more timing in. Then those cars could use 93 and get the benifits from it. Other wise it does nothing for them.

For you Cobra guys 96+ all need 93 octane.

Actually most 76 stations carry a race fuel of one sort or another. Usually VP 100 or 110 octane. It's not at an electronic pump but they do have a pump on the cans most times. Usually 7-10 bucks a gallon.
