Default Dont know if this could happen

If you have a tune in your car from a hand helt programmer ie. SCT or Prediator and the battery is disconected for a long period of time ie. 30 days, will it lose that tune and have to be reflashed or is it hard written in the ECM?

A friend of mine is leaving to go out of town for a few months and ask me and I couldnt tell him the truth.

Thanks for any info! Bubba

It rewrites the files in the stock computer so they are saved.

Why unhook the battery? Just hook up a battery tender while he's gone and return to a fully charged battery.

That would explain it. For those who are near a power source? Battery tenders are great to have, especially in light of the parasitic power drains of today's cars. Alarms, etc. all eat juice...

He has an 05 Dodge Ram with a Superchips tune in it. Him and his wife are leaving to go on a cross country drive. The truck sits outside and his wife is one of those people that worries about everything so we just unhooked the battery and shes happy now.

why not unhook a few fuel lines so if someone tries to steal it they will have to have at least some vocational training in auto mechanics

Back in the stone age, when cars had distributors, I'd just remove the rotor...
