Question ahh i dont know what to do...advice..

so right now, as most of you know..im trying to sell the stang. it's problem ridden, its inpractical, i cant drive it in any kinda of weather other than sun, it eats gas, and i ****in love it. the more i think about selling it, the more i dont want to...

i was going to buy an evo 8...but i got a ticket for 20 over, so i can't do that. right now my mom wants me to sell the stang, and buy a truck...i could get a NICE truck..my stang is BEAT up..and i think the tranny is going.

I could keep it, get a beater/pos, and put the stang away for the winter..and slowly finish it/fix it. the only thing is fixing it, and finishing is is going to cost ALOT especially if my tranny goes..i can afford a nice truck cus of a loan..but i dont want to take out a loan for..mods. if i keep it im s/cing it, fixing the damage...etc..but everytime i get my car nice..something bad would happen, or something would break...thats why i got sick of it in the first place...

is it worth keeping? i really want to...but im also so sick of POURING money into it..

what should i do?

If you really love your car, I would just get a DD and fix it as money allows, especially if it's paid off. You could always get a used engine and tranny for a decent price.

honestly... you are too young for something like that. You cant control yourself in something that has power and if you go 20 over NA, imagine what damage youll cause and tickets youll get. A 400 hp mustang is in a totally different ballpark over a geared and bolt on mustang. If youve been in one or driven one youll know sideways in second is a little too easy and 3rd spins as well.

I think you should stay away from any kind of sports car and look at a decent truck. You could part out your bolt ons, rims, and other stuff you bought and trade it into a dealer and buy something else. You know your stuff will sell on here, because someones always looking for something at a good used price.

As that dude said in spiderman, with geat power comes great responsablility. You'll just have to be more carefull when and how you drive it if you SC it.

i can sit here and argue with you about weather or not i can handle a 400 hp rwd car...but in the original post i basically asked if it was worth keeping, especially with all the money i need to spend to fix and finish it, not "can i handle a 400 hp mustang" i beleive i can, so you can rule that out as a factor for selling it..

Im just trying to be realistic with you here. What are your plans in life? Do you see college? Any services like NAVY, ARMY, ect? Honestly, something like that is expensive if it comes out of your own pocket at your age if any of the two are forseeable. Trannys and tranny work is pretty expensive all said and done. I dont know if your mom pays for your insurance but you can bet that it will go up at least 15% once your insurance company sees it.

No im just simply stating that tranny work is expensive. labor ops are pretty high on most tranny work and at the usual 100 bucks an hour, it racks up. Especially if you have to buy a new trans or get a reman (which i would do a t56 swap anyways if need be).

Your insurance will go up at least 15% because of this 20 over speeding ticket basically because of your age and the kind of car you drive. You get hit hard for being young with a sports car and when you break the rules, they shaft you. Sorry I thought i refered back to your ticket in my above post, but I guess not.

I gotta agree with matt on all the points he made...

A s/c mustang is not the type of car you would want to drive to school or work everyday...

If I were you'd I'd keep it as a project car and buy a daily driver...

Now here is something you might be interested in...

You can make your car a "COLLECTOR" car... whats that?

In NJ (I'm sure you have something similar in colorado) you register your car as a collector vehicle... You get a special inspection sticker (triangle shaped)... and you can only drive it for like 2k miles per year...

Nice thing... cheaper insurance... and easy inspection, and all you need to do to pass inspection is a working odometer...

just something to consider... thats what I've been considering to do w/ my car...

i would say its worth keeping...

everytime you fix it ur wrecking it because your doing things like driving on a highway while pouring down rain with drag radials...

i dont want to see your stang leave...just be responsible

If you keep it, I would consider a beater as a necessity. I drive a pos 87 dodge ramcharger which seems to be outlasting the body panels for whatever reason. lol Its rusted to **** but inside is spotless. I dont even know how many miles it has because its rolled over. but in the winter what more do you need? power windows, heat comes out hot, 4wd, and i havent stuck any money into it other than ujoints. You are a truck fan, you know the 318... get a truck with 4x4 so you have a nice fast car and something to play around with in the mud puddles. my insurance is cheap on it... its like 45 a month. I have a good driving record though.

in the winter my mustang gets put on jack stands in the garage and i put storage insurance on it which is 11 bucks a month.
