what year did they switch from using the t45 to the t3650? and does anyone know why they switched and what the difference between the transmissions may be?

I'm thinking mid 01> I got a 02 gt and it seems when I looked at some new shifters they are mid 01-04.

Mid 01 they changed to the TR3650. Its just a better and stronger tranny with a integrated bellhousing unlike the T45, which can have the bellhousing unbolted from it. Also has different gearing as well.
