Any benefits in going from 2.5 inch exhaust to 3 inch
Have a 2005 Mustang Gt and I'm trying to get all the horsepower that I can and I was wondering if there would be any real benefit in pipe size...
Thanks in advance..

Plus, it'll sound like crap unless you do need it. The loss of back pressure will give it a raspy sound over a hearty sound. Now 3" tips yes, but piping should not be over 2.5" unless you have SC/Turbo or a built N/A motor.

Backpressure isn't the issue, as you want it to be zero. Low velocity is the problem.
For something as small as a 281, even 2.25" is adequate. Unless you get more cubes and a blower, stick w/ 2.5" at most.

I kinda doubt it, seems like that would be a universal problem for lowering springs too, if half an inch on the tips would scrape...but then again not sure

Like people have said above there is no reason for 3" unless you have huge power adders and even then the difference in power is minimal. Not to mention ive seen alot of just block or power adders add hp this way but loose alot of torque doing it.
