swapping heads
Posted this in another forum no one really answered figured maybe it was in the wrong place
I also posted somewhere else about putting the heads from a cobra onto the GT block <--Is this possible? I was also wondering about putting the 6spd manual in the GT will it bolt right up?
See I just bought my mustang and it's already been modified, I'm just not sure what has been I've lifted it up the whole exhaust is custom mandrel bends from the exhaust manifolds back the cats have been removed. The shifter throw has been modified the clutch is nice and stiff, there is a cold air intake, I think that the ECU might have also been modified, I also asked somewhere else if the engine normally cuts off when you hit redline... I haven't pushed it but I know I can rev it over 6k...
I'm new to domesticated beasts so be nice

It is not simply possible to swap Cobra 4V heads on your car and go...there are alot of things different. Your best bet to get a Cobra is to get a used motor from a donor car (junkyard) and just swap it out. You'll have the benefit then of an Aluminum block (weight), A Forged Cobra Crankshaft and no complications of removing the timing cover accessories, dialing in the Cams (x4 remember.)
And if you get a Cobra motor...you could go ahead and drop a 5.4L motor from a 2001-2002 Navigator, I believe that year span has an aluminum block, 4Vheads etc. The Navi heads flow very well also.
a 2000 year navi motor will give you a Cast Iron block (the same one used in the 2000 Cobra R Mustang) with the navigator heads etc.
If you think the ECU may have been modified don't do any serious modificatons without a retune (i.e. heads/nitrous etc.)
A Cobra motor swap is becoming ever more popular in GT's. And there should be plenty of information out there. Try www.modulardepot.com Forums and www.corral.net.
Hope that helps,
Philip K.

the 6spd that's not too bad, will it be better then the 5spd? I know some of you might not like this idea but I'm more of a street person then a track person, so most of what I like to do is from a rolling start not a dead stop..
