Default blower motor resistor

when i bought the car back in april of 07 the ac ran fine for about 2 weeks and all of the sudden it would only blow on full blast so it was suggested to me to check the blower motor resistor and sure enough i pulled it out and it was all rusted to ****! i replaced it and never had a problem after that! unitl about a month ago i went home on leave and to my suprise i had the same problem, only blowing on high, pulled the ol blower motor resistor out again and what do you know rusted again! i could just replace it again but i would like to know if anybody has anyideas on what could be causing the rust?

If its rusting must be getting some condensation or water hitting it. Find out from where or get some of that liquid electrical tape that they sell in home depot and cover the resistor with it. It comes in a small can with a brush inside of it to brush the liquid on.

a couple of things come to mind;

1 is a leaking heater core
2 is maybe a blocked-up heater box drain
3 is maybe a windshield or cowl screen leaking
