I don't understand why you don't want to use the truck either, thats what a truck is for. You have a Mustang, a 8mpg truck, and a bike that your taking to the track: Your worried about gas mileage. It's just not the decision I would make.

You may think it's OK but think about. You have a truck already. Trucks are made to tow. If you are getting 8 mpg towing that bike, your truck has issues that needs to be taken care of. No truck should get that bad of a mileage towing something that small. If you are really that concerned about mileage, get a 1/2 truck w/ an 8' bed and throw the bike in the bed. You should have room for all your other stuff, especially if you install a roof rack. Remember, carrying the load will provide better mileage than towing.

mostly just for convenience, trying to get to the track after work....ever try getting anywhere with a crewcab dually, pulling a 20 car hauler...in bumper to bumoer traffic Los Angeles traffic, its a major pain in the *** just to change lanes.....plus parking at work is a major bitch for something that size at my work.

driving 5-10mph while your truck drinks gas...is not real fun.

maybe i will look into a liftgate to get the bike up and into the truck?

There is a guy that comes to all the autoXs in my area with and early 90s vette that has a hitch for his tire cart. It looks funny but hey it works

There are a lot of Miatas, Minis, and other various cars that I know of that run in my region what have hitches for their tire trailer. Those are really cars you can't fit anything in. I could put my tires and stuff in the car if I wanted but with the girlfriend riding shotgun and this pretty perfect leather I've got, I don't wanna that the chance.
