It all depends on the type of driving you do and is this your daily driver. You can use a hand held tuner to adjust pressures and shift points. I dont know whats out there as far as kits for the Mustang autos. I would use the extra cash to get Traction Loc differental and axles.

AOD-E is the name of the transmission for fords.

i wouldnt suggest adjusting line pressures via handheld tuner, you could cause premature failure. If you want you could do the J-mod (google it) i dont have time to explain or look up a link. If you dont feel confident enough with your mechanical skills than just go out and purchase a valve body from BC, lentech or performance automatic for a couple hundred bucks. i have a performance auto valve body on my auto and the car shifts smooth at part throttle and she breaks loose in 2nd and 3rd gear shifts. my peice is supercharged so you might not experience that but trust me when i say it shifts hard.

we have autos so there isnt much of a shock load being thrown at the axles so your stock stuff in the rear should hold up just fine. i have a 3500 stall and have flashed the converter a few times and havent broken anything in the rear yet.

stay safe!

What a shift kit does is it enlarges holes in the separator plate which controls how much fluid goes to certain passages in the transmission and this controls the firmness and speed of the shifts. Its a good mod because it will make the transmission run cooler because it wont slip on the shifts as much, and make it stronger because it will have more pressure to hold the bands (gears). For any auto car that's driven hard or in hot climates I would highly recommend a tranny cooler to keep the fluid cool. They can be had for as little as $58 from places like summitracing.com and doing a valve body mod. The most popular for the 4r70w (your tranny) is the J-erry mod or "Jmod" which is a valve body mod made by the designer of the that tranny. You can do it yourself for very cheap or as stanger said you can buy valve body's already modded so you don't have to worrier about it.
