1050 Racing
#2
Probably talking about 10.50 as in seconds in the quarter mile. It would be important for bracket racers whos goal is to be very consistent with hitting a certain time.
Edit: And if you heard it on Pinks the show, it means that they are going to sand-bag and BS thier way to the finish line when they can actually go alot faster.

I think it means the car is setup to run a 10.5 inch tire.

There's also the 10.5 class which specifies a lot of things, most notably the max tire width. If the car is set up for something like Outlaw-10.5 class (check out ORSCA for more in 10.5 racing) then it's likely that it should be making sub-10 second time slips (probably high 8's).
Pinks is such a joke... nothing but a TV show about bracket racing which is about as weak as racing gets IMHO. If they'd go straight heads up / run-what-ya'-brung then it'd be a heck of a lot more interesting. The problem is that the producers don't know enough about cars to properly organize the show around such a scheme so they ended up with no choice but to do bracket style racing which invites the kind of ricer bullshit the show is famous for (even more depressing since the show avoids classically defined "rice")

Thx R3d. I'm not a fan of the racing Pinks does, but they do have motors and race - and my wife says that's all I need in order to sit in front of the TV and watch!! (planes, boats, cars - it doesn't matter) LOL! Also, I'd heard of 10.50 racing at a local drag strip. And they mentioined it on the show the other day, and it got me to wondering again. Thanks again for the info.

I love racing but something about not giving it your all makes bracket racing less than honorable IMO. That's not to say I haven't sat and watched the show all the way through. They had a couple episodes with some pretty neat stangs and a mustang vs. camaro race that was worth watching.
There are heads up classes that are just as approachable for the average joe that self finances. I can't remember the exact class name but there's one that allows any stock suspension car with a small block and a single plate nitrous kit. Makes for some very cool racing.
