Default Plz help ID this sick intake

I ran across this pic and have never seen an intake like it. Looks like a great design to me: lots of surface area on filter, shielding, ram effect, keeps air from fan on engine... Please tell me where to get one!

I have no idea what that is. Maybe he has a ram air hood, i can't tell. It reminds me of the SLP intakes on camaros and trans ams.

that would be a western motorsport intake system.

very popular CAI mod. does not work with most ram air hoods.

the no programming thing can be done, but you wont notice a tremendous gain. i didnt notice a big gain until after i got the diablo tuner and retuned mine. if i were to do it over again i would have bought the tuner first, much better bang for your buck

If they don't even have the ***** to admit that you need to update the tune on s197's with CAI's then NEVER do business with them. there's no excuse for not setting the tune with the new cars... it's the difference between making 25hp from the CAI or making 5.

Been in Denver since '90.

Oh, I see, that's nice. Don't have any of those if you wanna keep spending money on your 'stang....lol.

Yeah, we've got family there and southern Ill so we're back occasionally. If we didn't I think I might have gotten desperate enough to make a Kreckel's/Monicals run at some point! We were there (decatur) this New Years in fact.

Doesn't that design somewhat limit the amount of air intake though? I mean the entire bottom of the filter is resting right on top of the black tray. So air's really only coming in from the top of the filter and the two curved sides. Why would you want to purposefuly block part of your air intake like that?

Hey Truck. I'm not sure about the clearence/restriction on the underside. Maybe that's why the filter has so much surface area, to compensate. If you go to western motorsports via the link in the earlier post they provide links to two independent test by a couple of Mustang mags that rate this product very highly against several other brands of CAI's.

I'll have to check that out. At least to satisfy my curiosity about it.
