Default manual tranny problems

ok. v6, bone stock, 5spd.

heres the deal. when im just gettin goin or somethin 5th gear is fine. slides right in no problems at all. after i get off the highway or something then i need my 5th gear...it grinds. sounds like the teeth arnt gripping and im wearing down my gears. this only happens when the car is warm or been running for a while. soon as i fire it up and go 5th gear works fine. my head is in a knot trying to figure this out. any ideas?

wait, so, confused.

you can slip in 5th gear just fine in lower speeds?...

what gear do you run with on the highway if you go into 5th when getting off? im assuming there was a typo there..

might check the clutch cable... if the cable has stretched or is getting worn it can have troubles completly engaging the clutch so it grinds when you try to put it in... I had that problem with my honda, i couldnt put it in 2nd or 1st unless i was going under 10 miles an hour.

after i get on the highway im in 5th. i cruse in 5th. once im off the highway and if i pick up a buddy or somethin, as i merge back on the highway, when i put it into 5th gear it grinds. only happens once its warm. if i keep the clutch down and very very slowly place it into 5th gear i can feel it sticking a bit but it wont make the grinding sound.

i think all you gotta do is pull the clutch pedal towards yourself then elt it back. it is self adjusting like that i think.

keep looking there are write ups on it. google that **** yo!

could it be the gear synchronizer? just a thought.. does it ever pop out of gear after u let off the gas and let the gear slow u down?

and yea jack i'm perdy sure the 99-04 style clutches are the "self adjusting" style where ya just pull the clutch pedal all the way forward. idk bout any other yrs. and i don't think he told us what yr it is.
