emissions legal... hehehe. Legal where? You live in NY which has smog laws that are almost as draconian as here in California. Check to make sure it's accepted as legal in your state. DO NOT TRUST THE SITE YOU BUY IT FROM to tell you that it is or is not legal.

"it is against the law to remove any properly functioning catalytic converter from a motor vehicle"

Otherwise, it's just metal pipe. If it fits at all it'll probably be fine.

so its basically just an o/r x then? I want an x, but dont want to pay 300+ for a catted x pipe. I would like to get an o/r and switch with my factory pipe for inspection time. Will I have to install myself or can I go to a shop for o/r pipe. Is it legal for them to install them?

its not a hard job to do yourself. and yes it is illegal for most shops to put o/r pipes on cars, you can find some specialty shop they will probably just say this is how much, and no slip for paper work..... but a regular muffler shop can't instal them. or are not spoce to.
