so today i get in my car and go to start it and the clutch is like a rock, there used to be a little play in it, not anymore its hard, and hard as a bitch to push in.it also started slippin first pretty bad. and while driving i smelled what smelled like burning plastic? putting it up on the lift at work today, i'm thinking the clutch just burnt out finally? any ideas??

 

If it just happened I would check the cable first. You may have got some moisture in it and its frozen.

 

update:

just put car on the lift and the line had major play in it. so i pulled the line a little and tightened it up and the now the car goes into cgear but doesn not move at all with the clutch let out
