I have always wanted a Lightning but to use it for hauling large items in the bed. If it had a quad cab like the Harley then I might consider it for a full time ride. Its one of those things that if I had a choice between an SUV and a Truck with a bed Id prefer a truck with a bed.

What's the diffrence in insurance?
Gas mileage will drop with the truck.
You can turn up the fun with the truck, but very limited because of the rods.
Stock Tires are about $150 ea for the truck compared to $75 for the stock stang.
Changing the plugs in a Lightning is not as easy as the Mustang. And if someone has changed the plugs, did they do it correctly! Over tightning the plugs with cause partial stripped threads and the extra ponys the heads take will blow the plug out. That means a costly repair.
Depending on what year will depend on some TSB's for the head gaskets. I think Ford recalled it, but the head gaskets will leak oil. Not sure what causes the problem, but an updated gasket is the fix.
Hope this helps!

if you're going to get a truck, get a diesel. You can still bump the performance WAY WAY up but you can run it on Wesson oil and chasing power out of them is much easier. Plus, you'll never wear out a diesel.

Forget that, just buy the Biodiesel kit they sell online (Freedom Fuel USA is the company I believe) and make 20 gal of diesel for the cost of a bottle of lye and a gallon of Methanol.
Also, $75 for tires maybe for the V6 but I pay $140-200 for each tire on my GT. So tire cost is about the same.
