I have a CF heat extractor hood so I cant use it but I like that you can see the CF when you open the hood. I shipped a hood about 2 weeks ago shipping at a UPS store and letting them pack it cost about 150.

No!

You do not need a heat shield.I don't even have one on my hood. They are not really a heat shield anyway. They are incase of a fire and they are supposed to drop off and smother the fire out.

It actually does prevent damage from your hood. If you look at cars whos not had them for years, youll see baking in the paint and some even start to warp.

I ripped that heatshield off a while back. Had a couple belts break and they put big gashes in it so it was ugly.....
