Exclamation V6 Conversion Questions

Ok, so I have a 2004 V6 (my first mistake hehe) and I want to convert it to a V8 so I can make some nice power gains from it. There simply isnt enough in a 6er for me.

Anyway, I figure to convert from a V6 to a V8 I need to get an engine, transmission, driveshaft, and rear end. I am not mod savvy, and I know that this cant be all I need. Please give me some pointers and info on how to make this a clean transition. Here is what I found on Ebay to get me started as far as ideas are concerned. Let me know if I have the right idea. Thanks in advance for any info and advice.

Engine: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-...QQcmdZViewItem

Transmission: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T56-T...QQcmdZViewItem

Rear End and Driveshaft: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MUSTA...QQcmdZViewItem

I dont know what gears come with the Cobra rear end, but I was planning on upgrading it to 3.73 gears.

Add on labor if you aren't going to do it yourself...say 2k in labor...so your gonna spend about 8k on your sixer? Just sell your sixer and use the 8k you were gonna spend and just get a Cobra.
I was planning on getting a 4.2 stroker kit and all proper modifications with it anyway, and that was going to cost just as much. I've done too much customization to my car cosmetically to just sell it. I've painted my interior, gotten a rear seat delete kit, I have a body kit as well. I should also add that I havent totally paid off my car yet hehe.

you'll need all the wiring harnesses, ecu, fuel tank, instrument cluster, fuel pump and lines, clutch, flywheel, etc.. You really should buy a donor car or this will get nasty expensive on little things pretty quick. It's not hard but it is very involved.

Yeah, I'm probably going to see about trading in my sixer and getting a Cobra or Mach 1. Not sure about the whole thing though.

I did the conversion on my '94 V6. J&P Performance in Scarborough did the deed for me...and Joe's assesment of the car was that with the '91 GT 5.0 and the computer we chose (I think out of an '89) the converted car would smoke a similar year (94)stock GT....at the time.

There are suspension issues - I find the front end dives ; the ABS module just barley clears one of the pullies; and it's underfed (since the original MAF and T/B we used at the time). It still pulls like crazy compared to the V6. Engine and Tranny are just the start of your problems. Instrument cluster, wiring harness, I flipped from and automatic to a 5spd too, so all that needed to be done. Oh, and I am running the 3.73's....Be ready to run high RPM's on the highway...and obviusly more fuel...

I'm sure if I thought about it for longer I could think of more stuff, but that was 7 or 8 years ago...I just might have to dig out my notes...

I sure get some funny looks at the Ford dealerships...and even 'Stang fanactics aren't sure what they're looking at (with the polished intake - FOXBODY style - and the V6 badges...LOL).

It's a blast to drive...

Good Luck...
