Post Bolt-ons over Gears

anyone had a tough time time deciding what mods to do first. if you had roughly $1,500 to spend what would you do? well here's what i did.

when i was home on r&r in july of 06' my wife bought me my current and 3rd mustang. she set aside roughly $1,500 bucks for me to spend when i got back, give or take. i had the hardest time deciding whether to spend all of it on bolt ons or gears and a couple bolt ons.

well in MY OPINION if you have a 98' or below don't buy gears. that was the very first thing i did to that one and it didn't do anything. yes it was a 5 speed. but maybe if i would have went with 4.10's instead of 3.73's i might have been happier. the non-pi motor to me is very weak after having 2 pi motors and not putting gears in either.

anyway back to my current car. my signature has all my mods in it. it took a bit of negotiating with myself and a lot of reading and past experiences before i decided not to go with gears. so i bought all them there bolt-ons. again minus the clutch and flywheel, i just installed them. anyway prior to me installing the bolt ons my best time was a 14.4. after the install my best time 13.6 in like conditions as the 14.4. these runs are on street tires and the stock clutch. almost a second difference, pretty good if you ask me. with a clutch that wouldn't slip it might have been better. my best time in the car in best case scenario conitions is stated in my signature. yes it was very cold and the track was hooking good somehow. again i was on street tires and the stock clutch.

i'm happy with my desicion but don't get me wrong gears are coming eventually, but i personally am going to save it till last. i only have a few bolt ons to buy minus the gears. i want to see how well it will do with the stock 3.27's and max bolt ons, all motor. i guess though if you do that many bolt ons all at once you should see a pretty substantial difference. if i hadn't had as much money i may have went with gears. but let me hear what y'all would have done if you was in my situation with a 2V PI motor 5 speed mustang, and give me your thoughts on what i did if you like, one or the other, both or neither, doesn't matter. just trying to stike up some conversation amongst everyone.

buy a used supercharger. you can get them for 2500 minus injectors and fuel pump. honestly, bolt ons are a waste of money. when you have all of them, you could of had a supercharger for the cost of one more bolt-on. you could sell your throttle body/plenum and cai and get like 300 more bucks to put down on the supercharger.

btw i shipped your ultralite gauge priority 2 day via usps. i think it was like .40 cents more over regular shipping.
