Clutch question????
Okay so for a while now, i've been having a whining noise that I thought was coming from my belt (which i replaced twice to no avail). While sitting in the drive through of Whataburger (walls on boths side of the drive through) I could hear the noise pretty loud. I then notice that the noise would go away as soon as I pressed the clutch all the way down. After I released it, the noise came back again. I'm thinking my clutch is about to take a dump on me one of these days, so I'm thinking of getting it replaced. A have a couple of questions regarding this little matter.
1. From what i've described, does it seem that my clutch is the culprit of the noise, and therefore I should replaced it?
2. What clutch do you guys recommend? Full bolt on 02 GT which I don't race any more so I don't need anything fancy.
3. Will I need a new flywheel or will my stocker work?
4. What should I expect to pay to have it replaced?
Thanks for any help guys..

if it happened exactly the reverse of how you say then I'd say it's just a TOB (throw-out bearing). But if you let the clutch go and it stops being whiny then that's probably not it.
In any case, replace the clutch while you're in there to replace the TOB. Flywheel should be replaced or resurfaced with the clutch job. A simple king cobra clutch is all that you should need. Mild pedal pressure and decent clamping loads for NA power. I would figure 200 bucks labor and 200 bucks parts.

i would say its the TOB aswell those are tell tale signs of one that is dying. I would do either spec stage1 or some other low pressure setup you odnt need much clutch for a full bolt on gt with out a power adder.
You should just resurface the flywheel its a 50buck job at most. and prices depend on the hourly wage were you live. If you have time and a freind and a set of jack stands you can do it yourself its not to bad just time consuming. took me i think it was 4 1/2 hours was it ot swap mine out. I was on a lift though.

getting it back in is a PITA.. note: if you take the shifter completely off it's 10x easier to get back in. Just cover up the hole with a piece of plastic wrap or something so it doesn't sploosh any fluid out the top.
I will most likely not be doing the swap. I'm too busy with school/work to be able to do anything. I go to school m-f 8:00am-12 noon and I have to be at work at 1 PM by the time I get off work it's 7:30 or 8 and its dark as hell. My only day off is sunday and i'm not about to spend it underneath my car..
