I just put seafoam in my car today through the vacuum line! I got the smoke that everybody was talking about but now my service engine soon light is on. Has anybody had that happen before! Will the light go off eventually? I need help asap! My dad was skeptical about doing it and I dont want him to know that the light is staying on! Thanks guys!

I don't think it's suppose to come on! However, just unplug your battery for a few minutes and then hook it back up and start you engine and you should be fine!

A check engine light means a code has been thrown.

Yeah, check the code and find out what it is, then maybe we can help determine whether or not it is something related to using the seafoam or not. I have used seafoam in one of my cars and I just helped a buddy put some through his Jeep and neither one threw a code of any kind. Might seem ironic that it came on after running the seafoam, but it could just be a coincidence and be a totally unrelated problem.

I'd venture a guess that you fouled a O2 sensor. If your car has a lot of miles it has lots of gunk in it. The SeaFoam knocked much of that stuff loose and all that crud along with unburned SeaFoam and fuel fouled the sensor.

It works kinda like this

I agree with Jadartt. It could be a spark plug or injector. Get the code read.

Default thanks

Yah so I unhooked the battery and hooked it back up and the light went out so does that mean everything is alright? If some thing was wrong with the O2 sensor wouldnt the light come back on! It stayed off so does that mean I dont have a recurring problem?

It may take a couple driving cycles for it to come back on. Give it a day or 2 and see if it comes back.
