Default All of these cool parts under my bed!

I am so happy I finally have all of the parts for my 04 gt, slp longtubes, catted x pipe, frpp 3.73 gears, hurst comp plus shifter, steeda pulleys, kand N filter, 180 degree thermostat and sct 2. I already installed the pulleys, filter and thermostat and could not tell a big difference, but I had the gears put in at the ford dealership and the difference is so much fun. I am already a big fan of gear swaps. But the biggest power adders are yet to come, I am waiting to use the sct 2 until after the headers and xpipe have been put on since it is tuned for that. And I think that I am going to wimp out and have the ford dealership put the headers on also. There is just too much that could go wrong with me dropping the K member, and the car is driven daily so I think that I am just going to save up some more and have it done at the dealership in a day instead of screwing something up and having the car down for a week or worse. Any ways I am excited! By the way, I already had flow masters on it and could tell a difference with it as in spinning er... chirping third gear.

don't let a dealer do it. They'll just screw it up. Take it to a performance shop for the headers. There are too many total drain boners wrenching at dealerships to even begin to trust them slack-jawed yokuls. Want good enough proof that it's good advice, post a thread on letting dealers mod your car... dudes will come out of the woodwork with reasons not to do such a thing.

If dealers can't do simple maintenance, then how are they gonna install performance parts? I took mine in for them to put the return spring for the parking brake back onto the caliper (not the best way to take off parking brake cables as I found out) since I couldn't put it back on w/ massive pliers. So what does the dealer do? They use massive pliers to put it back on also which took them 15 minutes and cost me $40. Being that they service Fords, they should have also realized that after doing work on the parking brake system, that the cable adjustment should be checked. So, I drove 3 miles with the parking brake on and a huge cloud of smoke behind me when I finally came to a stop and smelt it. Even if it takes you days, do it yourself since I guarentee you that you will do a better job, provided that you take your time. Plus, you save cash for more parts.

i like when you go to FORD and ask them a question about something, thinking they should know the answer and they tell you "I'm not sure or I don't know" what kind of crap is that. more than half of those guys have to take out a book just like most of us starting out working on cars but they still have to take the book out. i know they don't just work on mustangs but come on?!? There's probably a few mechanics out that that know their sh*t but i'd rather do the work myself and know it was done right the first time and if i forgot something, that's on me and i'll remember that next time.

If feels better knowing that your the one that worked on your car to add the performance or looks, plus it'll build your confidence for the next mod to put on your car.

Sounds good. Id NEVER take my car to a dealer either.

BTW, chirping gears is bad.
