yeah they're a pain, i did the same and went under the car with a big screw stick and a hammer and tapped the sh*t out of it, knowing the stocker was going in the garbage.

I just pried it off. I bent the whole thing over to one side and it popped right off.

Pull it to the side. I got out of my seat and pulled towards me from outside of the car and it came right off. It took a little strength. You wont break anything.

Exactly....I've installed my Tri-Ax on two different cars....On my 03 GT it took a little muscle to get the stock shifter to break loose. On my mach, I coudn't get that freaking thing off regardless of how hard I pulled, pushed or cussed. Finally I jacked the car up, got a screw driver and hammer and tapped the the side plate and it came right off.

Try a heat gun to heat it up and give it a blow or pry it. That's how I did it and it came off fairly easy. By the way, by heat gun, I mean one that blows hot air, not one w/ an open flame. I don't need to explain why not to use the other one right?

Man I remember doing that to mine. I bought a set of crowbars and managed to get it off that way. The Steeda tech support guy actually told me to hit it with a 2x4 lol...

Either way, it is amazing once it is in... Enjoy!

Eat some Wheaties then give it a try. Ive installed 3 shifters with no issues might be my twin guns.

I just pulled and rocked it hard, and gave in a couple of whacks with my 28oz Eastwing.

Put the shift handle back on for more leverage, THEN pull to the side, and yes, you will probably cut yourself when it pops off and you hit the plastic bezel around the radio/shifter. Enjoy.
