noise in transmision

Unhappy noise in transmision

hey there guys im new here and i am new to the mustang world....ok the noise that i hear is like if something was loose in the trany...but only when i put it on third gear.....it sound like a loose nut but then again i feel it on the stick....has anyone had this problem before and if so what can i do to get it fixed....thanks to all in advance....

Year?

the mid 2001 to 2004 had a problem with syncros in the 3650 trans and may be experiencing a case of that. Ford released a TSB on it and its covered if your car is under warrenty.

Is it only under engagement of 3rd? Or does it make this noise the whole time while in 3rd.

:stupid: I'd check the shifter set up first, my Pro 5.0 shifter wouldn't stay put until I used Loc-Tite. If it doesn't grind when it goes into gear, be happy, it's a gearbox, some noise is unavoidable.

ok guys this is what i had to replace.....cluster 150.00....3rd gear...65.00....block ring kit...150.00....2 counter shaft bearing....30.00......3 trany fluid 8.00...silicone 3.50.......1 brake clean 3.50........total in parts $410.00.....labor 500.00......did i get ripped of or is this ok?....remember im new to this and i have no clue.....this was all done in florida orlando area.....is there any better place for me to go for some work on the mustang if anyone from here can answer that please help....thanks again guys.....oh did i forget 63.95 in taxes
