Default Suspension Questions

Hello all,

I am looking at picking up some QA-1 Coilovers H-2003 with 175lb springs on them form someone and want to be sure that I am getting what i want out of them.

I want this to go on my 02 GT. I will actually lwoer the front ride height about 3/4" to 1" through the height adjustment but this car is going to be geared more towards autocrossing and not drag. I am assuming that I need to up the spring rate which is not a problem, but what would I want to get for them?

Also, I have seen the HBH adjustable shocks on here but i cannot find any information on them.

Are these good shocks and struts? Am I going to be okay with these choices?

I am adding a MM Panhard bar now with a torque arm in the future. What other things should I look at right now if I get these struts/shocks to install while I am putting on the Panhard Bar?

David

Here's a good site to look at for crooked road interests.

If I were you I'd skip the QA1 setup and go with the MM coil over kit. Pricing is usually a hair more but the quality is 100% worth it. I have the MM TA/PHB and full coil-overs and I loooooooooove it. Handles better than an M3 and it's still pretty streetable even with my aggressive setup.

For auto cross, you'll do well with the max-grip box from MM. The torque arm and panhard bar is a wonderful suspension system with massive grip. For autocross use, a 250lb front spring is probably better with a coil over setup. Don't go over 350# on your front spring or you'll hate driving it. 175 is still a bit low for my taste though.

Don't go with offbrand dampers... use something of known utility like Koni, Tokico or Bilstein. I prefer bilsteins as the ride feels somewhat more balanced for street and periodic track use and you don't have to adjust them.

Your rear spring should be spec'd by MM to match your intended use and the front rate you eventually choose.

BTW, don't bother with any brand of CC plate but MM. They're the only ones that have shown themselves to be durable enough to be beaten on daily and survive.
