Front Sway Bar Removal?
#3
What?!? you will still be able to steer. Taking it off will help transfer weight. I wouldn't recommend driving it home with it off and hitting some curves at a fast rate, but that's all. usually we will undo the endlinks and let the sway bar hang down but still attached to the car.

I removed my front and rear sway bars and haven't had any handling problems. I T/T on weeknights usually once a week and Drag Race almost every weekend. Sure it would handle the corners better with them on but I prefer to go FAST on the 1/4 Mile. I do only drive a mile each way to work but the Strip is 65 miles away. Just my 2 cents

yes, it will improve your 60' time and thus your 1/4 mile time (all else being equal). It's very easy to do and undo. Pull the endlinks and bar, set aside, race, reattach when done. You can do like Saleen S330 and let it hang if you like. I like to remove it completely but I'm a nervous nelly that way.
it's perfectly safe to pull the bar. Yes you'll have less front grip but you're trying to go straight anyway. Don't go corner carving with it off.

I had mine off for about a week one time. I took it off for strip use but I was too lazy to put it back on. When I was at the strip with the old ZEX nitrous kit, the car hooked HARD on some bald nitto DRs when the spray hit. It was a great mod for the drag strip. You wont have any problems keeping it straight down the strip. It makes for definately a better 60ft.
I hated the way the car handled on the street though. Everytime I took off at a light my front end would raise up high and it was getting terrible bodyroll. In the corners it felt like the car was about to slide off the road. Definately put the bar back on after your done at the track. the extra traction wasnt AS noticeable as it was at the track.

Do you have a auto or stick? if it's an auto your probably running 2.0 to 2.1 60ft. times I've been running my auto without the s.bar and I have BFG Drag radials my best is a 2.003 I've since done alot to the car and am looking forward to getting to the track this week. I suggest getting a good stall converter for better 60's and E/T's.

if your car is lowered, then the gains from re-moving the frt bar will be nill as lowered cars do not transferr weight front to back very well at the drags.
if you do not have lowerring springs on the car, 60's will improve. I took my frt bar off after the first week of owing my car and even wth skinnies up front, my car handled fine on the street, I just didn't drive it into corners over 65mph one other note, leave the rear bar on, as it does help the car track straight in the lights, if your running tires wth low psi ie: D/R or Slicks

I have lowering springs (Steeda sports) and Tokicko drag struts. I have my sway bar pulled and I transfer weight quite well. Most of that is from the struts, as the guy's said lowering springs just don't let the front come up enough to transfer weight. There is some loss of cornering with the front bar off like Randy said just use some sense when driving on the street. If I wasn't so lazy I'd put mine back on after I race but after changing all four tires each week I lose interest lol. I plan on ditching the Steeda springs here pretty soon and going with a more launch friendly set up.

well, not so much to help wth your 60's, but more for high-gear, wth 9 to 10 psi in your slicks a car will tend to "dance around" on top-end, the rear sway bar can help do-away wth some of that.
