i hope you're kidding... i never take my car to any random dealership. my friend works at a dealership and i only take the car to him because i know he can handle whatever i throw at him. most of the people he works with are idiots.
i've had bad experiences at 3 other local dealerships with my old car.

 

FWIW, I have had and seen at least 3 completely different engines have better than average cylinder preasure and still have the same problem. S-10 4cyl.,chevy LT-1, and a 350 with aluminum heads. First instinct is water in the exhaust. That works for old iron blocks and heads. Hope it's not your problem. I did find 2 of the problems by checking coolant preasure while the engine is runing.

 

Well we think its a head gasket, or head, or the block is cracked, we gotta open er up and see, also we were looking at pics of heads on karkraft and they looked like they had water jackets in what looked like the exhaust manifold, does this mean maybe we have a bad seal there cuz the exhaust smells sweet and there is the feeling of antifreeze ont the rearbumper, this could be our solution if a seal in the manifold awas busted, that would be where all our water is going as we have filled it up over seven times

 

You better pray the block is not cracked.......

 

We dont think it is anything too major because it runs just fine, it only guzzles water and says its runnin hot

 

Sounds like you are heading in the right direction. As much as it sucks, I would have the heads and block checked. If that is the problem, you will definitely see it. Good luck.

 

Dude if you would of metioned about your Cobra being thirsty and chugging a gallon every 30min in the begining it would of narrowed it down to what you just concluede. Hopefully its just the head gasket.

 

Sorry venom at the time i posted we had not had it chug on us. Good news is we found the problem. We took it to the dealership and paid for a diagnostic check etc. they found out that the problem was with the damn thermostat. We had changed it twice with ones from oreillys and they apparently were the wrong ones. They were about a half inch longer than the ones ford provides so if you havent guessed it, the thermostat did not have room to expand in the encasing. All in all i am pissed because it was so stupid but happy its fixed, plus ford charged us 200$ for the service

 

Hey, alot cheaper than new heads or block. Still sucks though. Lesson learned, keep the old one for comparison. Similar thing happened to me with a different car. Luckily I caught it before hand. Glad to hear it's fixed.

 

I do the same always keep the original to compare. I never buy stuff from autoparts stores only oil,wax etc. When it comes to engine parts I try to get stock from Ford or a better aftermarket one from a known Mustang part supplier. I have had issues like you in the past with auotzone,discount, pep boys etc.

 

So how does it run now that you can push it a little with confidence?


Wait, back to "chugging water"? It had to be coming out of the over flow? Basicly boiling out. Right?
