Ok, I just got a great deal on a 2010 Mustang GT Premium Auto (because of the 2011s) I have done a few 0-60 runs and got time of 5.043 . The car has 8200 miles on it, so I assume it will drop another .1 once the engine gets broken in. Can anyone confirm or deny from experience?

It has a bumper to bumper until 35K , and its a certified used ford, so it has the powertrain coverage until 100K. I have have had it for about two weeks, and I want to lower the 0-60 to 4.8 or 4.7 without canceling my warranty. (want to surprise some 2010 Camaro SS's off the line...haha). Here are my questions:

If I use the SCT SF3 / X3, and the the 91 or the 93 tune can I get to those numbers? And more importantly will I be able to drop the Tune back to stock, if I have a warranty claim. And most importantly will any sign of the tune still be present after I drive for about 50 miles (after its returned to stock), or will the dealership be able to tell?

Are there any ford techs out there that can confirm or deny if the memory will re-set after 50 miles and a stock tune?

Any knowledge would be appreciated.

A tune alone I don't see helping you out that much unless you throw some smaller mods in there too (cold air intake, exhaust, and tune would be best IMO).

As long as you have the tune returned to stock before you take it in to have it serviced (if it ever needed it) they won't be able to tell.

And if you get FRPP parts they don't void your warranty anyways. So if that is your true worry then just spend the dough to get over-priced FRPP parts. But keep the warranty.

 

Technically performance parts can't void your warranty unless it is determined that the part was the direct cause for the issue. And at 8200 miles, your engine is already broken. Better suspension, tires could help get a better 0-60 time. Take the time to first think about what you really want out of the car and then think about a budget. I would do mods for something more than just a better 0-60 time.

 

If you want to improve straight line performance, then work on the weight transfer. Lowering the car will make your 0-60 take even longer since you won't be able to transfer weight as efficiently.

Work on your driving skills and get a drag suspension if you want more. or you could cheap out and try drag radials.
