Default ok h or x and all sort of ?'s

Ok well new to the board as u no but addicted already. I have a 1997 saleen and just bought a cold air in take that goes in the fender well 75mm accufab intake plenum and tb, which I’m going to install this weekend oh, “p.s. to that install am I going to need to get a new cable to connect to my tb or will the one I have now work fine”. My next purchase is h or x pipe. Now my car already has Borla exhaust on it, which to me is really let me stress really quite. I’m really not looking for to loud and really don’t like the raspy noise u get from a x pipe. My questions are though how much better is the x pipe power wise, which h pipe will fit my exhaust I have now and does any one else have borla because I swear stock gt’s are louder then my car. Most likely going wit a high flow cat since I think cat less would be way to loud but open to suggestions though. Oh and I do plan on going all out wit this car blower and all don’t know if that matters wit the decision of x or h so i figured i would let u know.

You will not need a new throttle cable with the t/b install.

As far as x vs. h and power. There isnt a huge differece. The H tends to lose A LITTLE torque down low, but gains it back up top. Id base your choice on sound, not power because the differences is so minimal. That being said, Id never purchase an X pipe myself.

I have borla mufflers and a bassani X w/ cats. I like the sound, it's not too loud but it's noticable. X or H doesn't really matter. As long as it's better flowing than stock you'll enjoy it. High flow cats make off-road pipes into legal pipes. I'd stick with the catted pipes. They don't do much to hurt power but they really do help us all breathe easier.

I'll agree on the X. I actually like the sound. I wanted a deep muscle sound and a lot of people said to go with the H. I agree that it has a deep sound but I am running a Bassani X with two high flow cats, two spintech prostreet mufflers, and I had my tubing opened up from the muffler back to 2.5" out to 3" tips. I have that low rumble sound now. Whatever way you go, get the mandrel bent tubing to replace the stock pipes. It will make a world of difference on your sound and how your car breathes. It makes sense if you think about it. You are going from a 2.5" X or H pipe, into a muffler and out to stock 2.25" inch pipe. All of that air is getting squeezed through rather than flowing through, ultimately costing you power.

I don't have any as yet but I guess I could set one up. I don't use tail pipes though and that changes the note a bit. I had to go to turndowns right off the mufflers due to my suspension setup. I use Borla ProXS right now.

You want a sound people notice try bassani catted X with 2 chamber flowmasters and turndowns. It resonates like a beyotch inside the cabin but soooo many people would stop and ask about my exhaust when I had that setup it wasn't even funny. Shook my nutz when I'd give it WOT from 1800-2200rpm.

Of course uncatted flows better, if you need cats then get cats if you dont have emissions checks go uncatted. keep in mind uncatted is a good bit louder then even an aftermarket catted mid pipe.

I have an '02 Saleen S281 and am told that Saleens come with the stock Borla exhaust. I recently installed OR H pipe and Flowmaster 40's...It's loud, but I don't like it. The guy that installed it gave me back my X pipe but no mufflers...what's up with that? I don't know much about cars as I'm a female. Did he steal my mufflers?? What do the mufflers actually look like, are they stamped? Somebody please help, because if he stole my mufflers he's in deep ****! I'm a dumb *** too, it never occured to me to ask where my mufflers are
I also wonder if he even gave me my X pipe or some junk laying around in his shop. I hate myself!!

Zombie thread.

But yes, he stole your mufflers or probably threw them away.

Kill him, and get those back ASAP. Flowmasters suck.

Flowmasters rust as they are not stainless steel. Your Stock Saleen is stainless steel so you just downgraded exhaust. The exhaust guy probably gave you a stock system from another mustang and keep your Saleen one.

I love the slight drone in my exhaust right around 2000-22000 rpm's.

Necro thread.

Sucks you got hosed on the exhaust deal. I'm not certain on this but I don't think the borla mufflers are stamped. Flows are an image and I hate their sound. Try to go back and see if they can get you another set of mufflers at no cost.
