Default Front brake question...

I just completed a 13" front Bullitt brake install on my vehicle and I am having some issues..

The rotors rub slightly on the brake pads without braking.. Will this go away after some break in time or is it a problem???

Also while braking at speed they work fine, but just before I come to a stop I can feel and hear a loud rubbing sound. Any suggestions??

Did you bend the dust sheild far enough out from the rotor?

I can't remember if I bent mine or just removed them. This could be the grinding you're hearing.

No, but it is pretty easy to bend out of the way. I think I test drove my car heard some grinding and was able to bend it enough with my fingers to stop the noise.

Not usually supposed to rub/drag. EBC brake pads tend to rub for a while but they're special.

remove the dust sheilds. All of them. They look like ***. Rotors shouldn't really rub the pads noticeably unless you're touching the brakes.

Are you in the San Francisco bay area? If so just pop out to my place and I'll take a look for you. Could be a frozen or gummed up piston. Probably not but you never know.

My pads rub on the rotor when I first put new pads in or swap rotors. Does it everytime, but goes away after a bit of driving. Remove the dust shields by drilling out the center of the rivit and punching it out.

The brakes work extremely well.... Only drove for about 30 miles and did a couple hard stops. Eyeballs damn near came out, but the pads are definately rubbing. Did not want to drive too much and wreck. I will remove the dust sheilds next see if that helps any.. Some people have said something about "bedding" the pads and rotors??? Guess that means just wearing them in???

Sadly that would be one heck of a drive from S. Florida. Appreciate the the offer though.

no worries. Here's a tip... If the rotors are smoking hot after a 10 minute drive (I mean smoking) then something is wrong. If not, the dragging will probably go away.
