Right now I have a K&N FIPK RAI on the 04 gt. I want to try a fenderwell CAI. Is there somewhere I can just buy the extra elbow and bracket that I would need to just tack onto my RAI to put it in the fender?

I am assuming maybe autozone or some local place might have what I want, but I am not sure exactly what I would need. What extra parts do you think I would need?

 

There's no reason to do that a RAI and CAI are the same exact thing and the RAI is much more convenient

 

Don't waste your time. You will experience no difference. The only thing that will change is you will have a hell of a time getting your air filter off.

 

why would they offer two different things if they were the same? My RAI doesn't even have a heatshield thing.

I think I might do it anyway just to see for myself. Could anyone offer advice as to what parts I would need or would it be more convenient to just buy that cold air kit on AM for $85?

RAI does have a heat shield. I have the same exact intake as you do. It's up to you but were telling you that you won't feel one bit of difference and your going to hate life trying to get your filter in and getting it out to clean it because you basically need to remove the wheel every time. The longer air travels through the pipe the warmer the air gets so you get cooler air with a RAI. If you want something to do on your car put the money toward gears or another mod you haven't done yet instead of putting money into something thats already there. Just my .02

 

Then whats the point of a CAI? If an RAI's air is just as cold then why have a cai instead of a rai?

 

they're all CAI that's why we brought up it will make no difference. The Ram air is basically a shorty cold air intake. No matter what they are all taking in the same exact temperatured air (the temp it is outside)

 

I think they offer the fender mounted intake for those who truly believe there will be a difference. Many people have seen from experience that there is no difference.

I wont tell you "dont do it" because it is your car. And i know how much fun it is to work on your own car.
Im not sure if there is any parts readily available to convert a RAI to a fender mounted CAI. But if you have the creativity and money, make a write up! Im sure you will have fun with a custom job. Good luck!

 

Post pics of under your hood maybe we can figure out whatcha might need for it to be converted.

autozone, pep boys, whatever you have local sells the elbows and intake peices.

 

Ive had a JLT fender intake and and then got rid of the extra elbow and just did RAI because the fender intake is just a pain in the *** when you want to do anything with your filter or anything else. I would recommend staying with RAI but thats just my .02

 

That would make sense. I was thinking about getting that one, but I'm missing the Fenderwell, so the filter would just get wrecked. haha

 

I recommend doing it right the 1st time with JLT products and im a huge fan of the RAI. Granted mine is "homemade", the only other thing I would invest in is a "heatshield" to have the added weather protection.
