every time i come to the forum, there is a new post about someone asking which is the best cold air intake, or what are the gains, or comparing one to the other.

what is it about these intakes that make them so desirable?? is it those horrible "fast and the fabulous" movies, or is it just mass ignorance??

worst of all, when a noob come on and askes the questions, we all tell him not do bother, and just get a good filter, they don't listen to us.

Idk, but I can't get enough of the whistling sound my CAI makes when the car's in high rpms. Haha.

 

ppl dont bother to do a search. Thats why there are so many POINTLESS cai threads.

 

So you never made a noob question? It's part of the process of learning.
Just don't click on a "cai" thread to save urself the headache.

 

It gets kinda annoying. I skip all the CAI and v6 dual exhaust threads.

 

i actually remember the first and only noob question i ever asked...

isaid that instead of buying a short throw shifter, i was going to cut my shift handle and thread it to make it a short throw shifter... i wanted to know the thread size.

i got flamed and laughed at sooo much, i just started researching before i asked anything.

They might not do EVERYTHING the manufacturer claims, but they had an interesting article in 5.0 Mustangs about the HP gains from the CAI. The factory Bullitt CAI on the S197 showed a gain of 8.69 HP @ 4,611 RPM, and 6.47 Ft.lb torque @ 4,724 RPM. Granted, the CAI is accompanied by an 85mm throttle body.

Roush makes one that is just the CAI itself, and boasts of a reputable increase- although I don't have the numbers in front of me.

I have a CAI on my daily driver, a Probe GT, and it made a noticeable difference...especially above 4,000 RPM. I agree with Pcola on the sound too. It sound pretty cool.

I had a ebay cold air intake on my sixer, and it looked cool and sounded cool. Thats about it. Worth the 50 bux on ebay lol

 

idk if i were to do it again i prolly would put a drop in filter in but the aem filter helped out some.

 

Its because they can be bought cheap and be installed by someone who know's jack about cars.

I think everyone has asked a question about CAIs.

 

I bought one b/c it looked cool and made me happy.
