k....so if you were at the track with a 96 gt 5speed with o/r x and flowmasters and a few other lil things...ur goin down the track and ur in well lets say 3rd gear and ur at 5500-5700 rpm with about 50 yards of the 1/4 left would u throw it into the next gear or just keep in third an let it go to like 6500 or so maybe a lil more...i kno these engines like to revvvv and yes ii realize id be outa da power band but would the shift slow me down to much to make it worth it

thats a good question which I've always wondered. Bc stock 99-04's can run 14 flat @ 100 mph and 100mph is RIGHT at the redline. The best solution is getting gears, which will get you in the middle of 4th gear when you cross the line so you wont have to worry about that. My suggestion though, at the end of 3rd gear, you're not making any MORE power from 5500 and on, so i'd suggest just shifting bc you dont wanna pass redline

your car doenst make power past 4,800rpms at all. I would just go and try it both ways and see if you MPH goes up or drops down. I would think it would be faster (MPH) going ot 4th gear.
