Default My experience installing the V6 cold air intake kit

http://www.americanmuscle.com/muv6coairins.html

It arrived in the mail yesterday. Long story short, I installed it just fine with only minor issues along the way.

Issues:

My V6 stock CAI did not come with a air temperature sensor. I wasn't aware of this until I took it apart and realized I couldn't find it. Without the sensor, this leaves a quarter inch hole in the side of the new intake. The kit that I purchased (above) does not come with a plug for the hole. The tutorial video describes a plug and even shows it being used. This tutorial doesn't even talk about it: http://www.americanmuscle.com/am-v6-cai-install.html (you can see the hole in step 16).

I managed to find something to plug the hole. This is what I used: http://www.riteav.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=592

My cold air intake gets cable now.

I figured it best to plug the hole up with something rather than let dust get sucked in.

--

The tutorials really don't stress how difficult it will be to stretch the breather hose to fit onto the new intake. I had the hose pop out a few times while trying to get it to reach the fitment. Couldn't this fitment be pre-bent toward the hose and made just a little longer?

I managed to get the hose secured, but, it seems barely on there. I worry that it will slip off from vibration.

--

Great product from AM! It works as advertised and I do notice a significant difference in sound and power.

dont really see why it take so long to put in a CAI

i know my first time it took me like 1 hour to install it(cuz i was such a noob at it)

but now it only take me less than 5 mins to uninstall it and re-install it

as for the air temp sensor. ur suppose to use ur stock one (AM.com dont give u a new ATS(Air temp sensor)

the air temp sensor ur talking about is really the IAT Sensor

My stock intake does not have a IAT sensor.

The AM tutorial video shows a plug being inserted into the IAT hole on the new intake when the sensor isn't available.

My stock CAI didnt have it either. I used a small nut and bolt with a rubber piece in the middle to seal it up.

that is distrupting the airflow... not like it matters though... CAI's dont do squat on the 6ers.

Ford integrated the IAT sensor into the MAF sometime in 2001-2002.

^ Yep to that. I just used a rubber cap to fit over the stem for the IAT in my CAI. Even matches the CAI.
