Default HID PROBLEM!!!

I have had my dual beam HID kit from am for around a year now. No problems up to yesterday.

I noticed when it got darker that the road wasnt lit up like it normally is with my HIDs...and i figured maybe my driver side HID is out...i was right.

I checked all the connections and the bulb itself and nothing seems wrong.

Only thing that was wrong is that the balast was untapped from the battery and was not dangling because its real tight between the battery and headlight just sitting there. Dunno how long it has been like that.

I didnt know one could go out like this? Maybe the balast went bad?

I emailed am as well.

PLEASE HELP ME! i dont have money to buy a new set of lights.

It's possible the ballast is bad...I'll need to have you get it checked out by a mechanic first. Get confirmation that the ballast or the bulb blew and I'll see what I can do for you. Shoot me a PM when you know.

exactly. It actually happened to me once. To test it just make sure your car is off and pop the hood. Turn the lights on and go to the ballast box that the light is dead and listen if you don't hear a buzzing sound coming from it that means your ballast box died. Happened to mine got it replaced fast from AM and haven't had a problem for going on over a year now.

well...false alarm i guess.

Today i went to check it out again and my battery completely died on me...couldnt even unlock the doors electrical...had to actually use the key to unlock the door.

didnt even make a sound when i tried to start it.

Had AAA come and jump me with their jumpstart thing because my roommates wrx wasnt jumping doing the job...so i got it to autozone just a down the road and had the battery charged...it failed to charge 4 times...it was shot

Got a new Duralast gold battery and she fired right away and then the HID that wasnt working came on!!!

So...as of right now my HIDs are ok

im just about positive you have the same problem I had once. The ballast box has to be dead it was probably just about dead the first time it went. Keep the car off turn the headlights on and if the box isn't buzzing its not generating any power. When I had the problem they sent me a single new ballast box and then once I got it and installed I mailed mine back to them.

don't know that is pretty weird. hopefully your replacement goes as smooth as mine went. Funny thing was I never knew mine was dead until a cop pulled me over because even with just the single headlight it seemed the roads brighter than with both stock ones haha

I hope to get HID's one day as well, since I drive real early in the AM to work and I have a hard time seeing as it is as well when its dark anyways!

Yeah get a hold of AMNick and he should be able to help you out, is there any kind of warranty on these?

Yeah there is a warranty they told me but I forgot since it was over a year ago. I think its 1 year but I'm not positive. I think you may be better off calling. Nick doesn't seem to be on quite as often as Emilie was so I think it may just be faster to call

Usually I check my PMs every day at least once...except for weekends & holidays...need to keep my sanity!

We actually solved the HID problem via PM...all is well now TClark22?

I don't have any pictures on this computer of the actual road lighting I can probably get some later in the week if I end up digging my car out of the snow lol. Basically you really don't need pictures though stock light= poo. HID lighting= I can see! haha

This seems to sum up what everyone says so if someone wants to post pics cool but I guess I really don't need them.

Can you make a post in the pics section with pics of the kit you have? I've been really considering a set and want to see other set ups first...

the low beams are the 12000k kit from stangmods and the fog lights are the 10000k kit from stangmods. the driving lights are in a projector so they are not as bright as they would be with a clear or chrome housing.
