Default Hey HID expert MattJ

or anyone else...since I am going to be selling my projectors...i am thinking about an HID conversion...which place would be the best choice to buy an HID conversion kit...also how does the high/low beam thing work? and how hard is the work to do it by myself?

Not Mattj, but from what hes said, you have to buy a kit and retrofit it to your car. So, Id say something like a BMW or MB kit would work, then you just have to stare at it to see how to set it up. Id expect anywhere from 400-600 bucks honestly. What you get for those projectors?

yeah i know, im only thinking about them...didnt sell the projectors yet, because im leaving in ..3 days, but if somone wants em now let me know before they officially go up for sale when I get back

You will need a bi-xenon HID setup so that you can maintain your low AND high beams insteayoud of just having your low beams. Our headleads are between a small and a medium sized headlight. If I were you, I would get some acura TL bixenons which you can usually find on ebay for 400-500. They are some of the best out there and they are highly saught after because of their very wide beams and intense color cut-off. The picture I posted of the red neon srt4 had the TL projectors.
They consist of bi-xenon projectors with selenoid, d2s bulbs, ballasts, and you will need a custom wiring harness to make your car work with bi-xenons which you can usually find for 30-35 shipped from someone on HID forums.

Im on my laptop right now, ill give you some helpfull links later when im on my desktop but for now, read up the FAQs, pictures/video, university, and the other helpfull stuff located at the forums of www.hidplanet.com

did ALOT of reading man...good stuff, I think with my mechanical skill the projectors would be fairly easy to install in the stock housing, modifiying the reflector etc (would you paint it black or the color of your car? do you think that would look cool?) But i really suck at wring and the whole solenoid/diode for the bi-xenon thing is confusing to me as well as the relay stuff and ballasts,can you just buy the pre-made wiring harnes for the 9007, or would length etc make you have to do it your self? if I could just buy the harness, my only problem now would be the solenoid/diode to control the highs and lows, unless if a premade wiring harness comes with a diode?? can they do that?? if thats the case this install would be extremley easy!!... are you going to do it Matt?? if so please post some pics of the install especially the wiring!!...also what would you use as a shroud? because i hear the the TL solenoid makes it harder than useing just any old item as a shroud..what about a bezel? would you use one? if so what? and what about the s2000 bi-xenons? theyre easier to get a hold of and cheaper? i know the TLs are the best but the s2000 is also good right? why not them?

s2k projectors arent bi-xenons. They are stanley projectors and so are the TLs. I suggest the TLs and thats what Ill be using whenever I get around to it. Shrouds and bezels are usually all custom made now. Some people buy one from OEM but people make em out of stove tops, coffee mug ends, pvc ends, ect... You have to be creative and look around like home depot, menards, walmart and all those stores and look for something that will fit. As far as a wiring harness, you can either get a custom made one for pretty cheap from the electrical guys who sell em, or do that and get a rebased d1s or d2s bulb to 9007 so you can plug your wiring harness into em. You can also modifiy a new 9007 wiring harness so you dont have to splice into your oem one if you decide to switch back. The wiring harness for a bi-xenon setup will work exactly the way your highs do (or should) with the correct wiring harness for bi-xenons and your selenoids wired properly. Stanley has easy bi-xenons with 2 wires. All of the other ones have 3 wires and they are ALL different color codes so you have to figure out which wire is which.

oh i thought s2000s were b-xenon..guess not. Is there a wriing harness thatcan be used as a kind of plug n play? like connect to to batter, and the stock wiring, to the HIDs? Basically im saying is there a way I can just purchase everythign so they no wiring on my part is needed otehr than hooking it up to the battery and pluging it in to the HID and stock wiring?

Those are garbage. They throw light EVERYWHERE on the road and blind oncoming traffic. Ballasts also have a short life period.

any HID kit like that you get its stupid, because the OE reflector isnt meant for bright HID bulbs they are meant for halogen lights, so basically your lights are bright as hell and are unsafe because you blind pedestrians and other drivers, thats why an HID retro fit is the only way to go

well..not clearly then...here i'll even simplify the question

can I do the HID retro with out wiring other than a simple plug-in?
