Yes you can use it over and over again but you buy different tunes for say a performance tune,Valet tune, nitrous tune, etx.

Just as Lances03GT said, you can use it over and over again. But it holds up to 4 different tunes at one time. So, let's say you'd have say a tune based on your cars mods and using 87 Octane fuel, for your day-to-day driving. That's one. Then another based on your cars mods, but using 103 Octane for your not-so-day-to-day driving. That's two. But say this weekend you're installing that Nitrous kit you just bought. Now you can add a tune to best take advantage of that extra power. That's three. Now let's say you're going to sell your car to your little brother but your mom's worried about all that power you've added to it. So now you remove all your mods, and put it back to stock form. Nw you can use the stock tune that's been sitting in the fourth slot.

At any time though, you can erase/replace an already installed tune with a new one. That's where the "use it over and over" part comes in.

Ok I think I understand, so the extra tunes are just for easy performance changes at the switch of a button. But is it ok to just buy the XCAL2 by itself with no extra tunes. But in doing that you just have to get a new tune programmed everytime you want to run a different set-up. Does that make sense, what I'm saying. What is the best recommende way to buy a SCT XCAL2: regular, with 2 tunes, with 3 tunes. I just want my shifts to be stronger, and my gears and exhaust to work together. Then I am adding nitrous in two weeks.

It would'nt hurt but I would wait till you had everything that you are going to do to it done before I added another tune. You might change more thing's than just add nitrous.

If I buy it with no extra tune, how do I get them later on down the road? Does Mustang Tuning have to add them on?

Ok, I'm almost there!! How do they send you a tune? Is it memory card or something you plug into the actual XCAL?

I haven't actually done this, so don't take this as gospel, but my understanding of the way it works is this:

You notify MT.com of the need for a new tune. You send them the information needed (essentially the information they ask for when you order the XCAL2 from them) and then they will e-mail the settings you need to input into the XCAL2 for each "section" of the tune.
