Ok, I am definitely purchasing the SCT Xcal II here in the next week or so. The thing is that I want the 3.73 gears too, but I don't really have anywhere to get them installed without paying $200. I am thinking about buying the whole package and just keeping the gears until the chance arrives to get them installed. Does this sound like a good idea as far as saving money? Is it possible to buy the package and still get the Xcal II tuned for my stock gears? Also, how much does it cost to have extra tunes e-mailed later?

 

Yeah, that would work fine. All you need to do is change the gear ratio that the tune is designed for from 3.73 to 3.27, then change it back to 3.73 when you get the gears in.

 

So I don't have to order a whole new tune once I install the gears? I will just have to adjust the gear ratio in the tuner myself?

Nope, no need to get a new tune. That parameter can be changed right on the X-Cal2.
