Default Speedo cable. Do I need a new one?

I have a 1990 5.0 that i am working on right now. I am swapping the old automatic tranny for a T-56 6speed. I took out the old pedals and stuff, but now i need to know if i need a longer speedo cable or can i use the stock one from the old auto. I have heard yes and no from different people so i am kind of at a stand still right now.

any help please

Since your swaping from auto to manual, i would get the manual wiring harness and disregard the auto one. If you can't get one, then you can use it. Since you are going from an mechanical speedo to an electrical speedo, you need to call or go to www.dallasmustang.com and order the speedcal for auto swaps, i think it as an ER behind the number. and this is if you use the auto or manual tranny harness. You will have to disconnect the speedo gear and use the one that goes into the T-56, do some wiring with the speedcal and you'll be good to go and it's easy. They have a calculator to show what you need to put into the speedcal, but they also have a forum for that and just register and ask him what setting you need to start with and he'll tell you.
