Could I use a gt ram air kit on my sixer? I'm finding a few gt set-ups at decent prices and not many v6 kits. Oh, and would I have to buy a mach 1 style hood or would it be possible to just cut a hole for it?

I think I'm going to go with Ram Air system or maybe a dual exhaust with some rocker decals, So I'm off to shop the internet. The ram air seems to be cheaper but I still need to buy a hood if I do exhaust I need to price check with the local shops for a custom set-up.

I just wanted to thank "r3dn3ck" for that excellent post in regards to the different exhaust options.

That single post should be a "STICKY"

and BTW, how hard is it to install a bolt on system without the help of a mechanic shop?

thanks!

ceez

The bolting on doesn't seem to be the hard part. The hard part for me is figuring out what i can get for my mid pipe, I've been getting mixed replies from companies since I have a convertible, and it seems cheaper to ask a shop what I need, go shop for supplies and have them weld, bolt, and set-up. If it turns out all I have to do is bolting then I'l do it.

CheddarBob, I'm deciding between a a shaker or dual exhaust right now cost seems to be the deciding factor. And since I need to buy a new hood(or modify my current one?) if I go with shaker, Its leaning towards the exhaust.

id go the exhaust route. it is less of a hassle. and IMO shaker looks ugly if dont dont have dual exhaust.

Yeah, I was thinking about that just now, I think I'll ask a shop to custom make me a mid pipe and buy an exhaust sytem to attach to it and....yay! Just found the camera under the desk.... I'll post some pics of my stang soon. I might go with some decals besides the typical rocker 'mustang' decal. Would it be better to pay extra to get it to painted or just get some stripe tape.

Yeah, makes sense dual exhaust would look good on a bumper with dual exhaust spots. How much more would it cost to just go with a full body kit? I've never really priced them. Or just the bumper for that matter.

I'm going to get the exhaust first and see how much I have left, should be more than enough though. BUmpers.com seems pretty well priced, I just checked out some ebay strores and some online catalogs. So for about $300 you get the bumper and its painted?

you have to pay for shipping to so its probably closer to $440. Not worth it in my opinion. It looks nicer yes but there are a lot more things you can do with $440 bucks than use it on a bumper cover . Mine just hang below the bumper

Ah, ebay is there anything you can't get there? Btw I' starting to get a bit curious about those side exit/roush exhaust systems. Are there any advantages/draw backs to a set-up like that? It looks pretty good to me but the price is throwing me off, why does it cost $900 for one compared to a $700 ish cat back? If I got a custom made side exit wouldn't it cost less than normal, I mean less pipe.

check out www.virtualbodyshop.com, their parts are great quality and the paint is decent. I got my bumper cover for just over 350 painted and delivered.

not everyone sells a product for the same price thats why you shop around.

now if you think a bumper cover cost a lot those Roush side skirts cost way to much

I think I'll just stick to the duals then.Is it better to get decals and stripe tape or just get painted? I know it's cheaper with the decals and tape and its removable if I change my mind but is it worth putting out the extra cash for the paint? I'm going to give my mustang its weekly wash tommorow and send some pics if I don't get too busy.

Finally got to cleaning it, here are some pictures....how do u attach images? My dad noticed that in between shifts that the engine doesn't go down in rpm, i.e. shifting between third and fourth it actually revs up from the current rpm until actually put in gear. We asked a shop about this and they said all the 99-04 models do this. My dad was concerned that this was putting extra stress on the clutch and if needed how should we fix it.

post them up to something like photobucket.com and then it will give you a [img] code and you just copy and paste it into here

CDC (IIRC) makes a Mach1 style "ram air" kit that should just need a hole in the hood. I saw one used on horsepowerTV about a year ago on their project Nightmare. Theirs was a 94/95 but I'll bet there's one for your car too.

I'd slap a Boss429 style scoop on it and a chin spoiler and call it a day.

A local college is having a car parts swap meet in a few weeks, I'm going to see if I can piece together a good exhaust sytem there and maybe some new headers. What is air induction and does it come stock? I'm asking because I'm seeing it on some headers as an option. Right now I'm more concerned about the 'hanging rpm' problem. It seems to be common in the 99-04 mustangs but I don't know if it actually harms the engine in anyway such as putting extra stress on the clutch or weather the ebay items in the links above my last pics would fix it.

-EDIT- Never mind, got off my lazy *** and searched it, found this https://mustangboards.com/modular-4-...-off-slow.html
I pretty sure this is the same problem, now is it worth fixing, I mean I'm reading that air flow is restricted afterwards, but would it be to the point where it actually affects functionality?
