Actually during the summer up at Infinion (Sears Point) raceway they have open night drags on Wednesdays. Anyone can bring whatever car they want. they also have drag events at Irwindale speedway and I think sometimes California Speedway.

The whole street racing thing is blown way out of proportion.

IMO there are three different things, and while all are illegal they are very different.

You have people that meet up in various locations, usually on the outskirts of town with no traffic present, no intersections or housing developments to have someone shoot out of. Where the only 2 cars on the road, are the two racing. While this is illegal, I don't see how the saftey level is any different then the track, where I'm from its a bit safter because you can get more traction on many streets then you can at the track.

You have people who may run into someone at a stoplight or stopsign and go off the light or from a roll on the highway. MOST of these people are smart enough to know if there is traffic to just let it go, there will be another day.

Then you have people that everyone calls "street racers" and the people that have to brag that they are "street racers". These are the people that do canonball runs through the city at 2pm, the people that weave through traffic, that try to drift through the city, the people that you see on the news, or in body bags.

Again these are 3 different things, and many people who do the 1st, do the 2nd also.

Now to sit here and say that someone who is 30 is better then someone who is 18 - thats not always the case. Although many of the younger drivers are not as experienced at hanlding their cars, and are the ones who weave traffic - the 30 year olds had to get a start somewhere. One time every single person on here was young and stupid - thats how you learn. You may not have gone zig zaging through traffic, but my point is - you gotta start somewhere at anything, thats just life.

Me, I openly admit to racing the 1st and 2nd styles, but I will not even accelrate moderatly with any traffic present or my family in the car - you have to use your common sence a bit, which many of the honda boys dont but then again, they drive hondas so we should already know that.

My local track is very active in trying to get "street racers" on the track, and the crowds they are attracting are 98% import/sport compact. My friends and I agree that it's not worth my time to drive 1 hour there, spend $45 and 5 hours to make 3 passes after the FWD cars drag water all over the track and the track is not prepared at all risking my life trying to get the car off the line without going sideways into a wall on DR's, then make the hour drive back. One of my friends hit a puddle of water that the FWD cars were leaving mid track and got 90º sideways at a little under 100 - IMO the isolated streets are safter.

I kinda agree with 2eighty1 on the nowhere racing.. But the one thing that is safer at the track, if you do lose it there is a wall (sure bad) but there also is helf seconds away not minutes to hours.. but i know alot of ppl in my town that go out to a private road one of them owns at a powerplant, cops can't touch them becasue its private unless the owner calls, they are safe out there and have fun. soo the middle of nowhere racing 2 cars at a time isn't too teribly bad i think..

Hah, 17? You're damn close, it must be because your so wise from being so old, right? You must teach kung fu also? Im actually 18 years old, and Ive been driving since last december, wait, Hahaha, Ive only been driving for 7 months I must be a douche. Whatever. But anyway, my point is that I havent been driving nearly as long as most of you people, and I havent had so much as a scratch on my car from the stupid **** that I do in it, and Im pretty confident that if I ever get in a wreck, it wont be my fault. I guess you can call that.....the.....confidence of youth? I also happen to street race in broad daylight on the main roads in my town and it would seem that...my techniques of street racing are a bit different from your fast and the furious style of street racing tha you're so worried about....If Im racing someone on a main road where there are other cars, I will only race the other person if the cars ahead are a good distance away, and I dont go past 60mph seeing as how most of the speed limits on our roads are 45mph. And I sure as hell dont weave in and out of traffic......thats for tourists...which are the main cause of the accidents that happen here during the summer months.
Now in regards to your post above, Im sure that if there was a car coming down a backroad that I was racing on, Id wait for it to pass before I did and wreckless driving. And your scenario with your wife and kids being "that car" is ridiculous. It seems like your just trying to hard to make your point, and you should never talk about things like that anyway. Im kind of superstitious myself, so I wouldnt use my family in a "pretend" situation like that...and for the record, Id go out of my way to avoid hitting animals, even dead ones, so Im pretty sure, unless its intentional, that Im never going to hit a human being.

Hahaha. Thats just in town.

I raced a z4 the other day on I10, and I was keeping up with him at 110, which im sure most of you know is where a 96 v6 cuts off at (laugh it up) but thise big as ram 1500 wasted both the z4 and my car..and both the dudes I was racing were in the late 40's to early 50's.

Default Battle of the ages.

And btw, for all you old fellas talking smack on us youngster, I was watching pinks the other day, and some 16 year old kid won all his races and most were against older dudes, and the kid was driving an old (not sure wat year) z28...and it was his daily driver. So lets not base things on age anymore...why not just base things on skill?

Yes that is exactly what we did... we will meet in town some where then drive out of town to one of the many isolated roads we have in kansas.. no one races in town that **** is just dumb.. The only reason i raced those guys was because they came up to me talking **** saying my car was a piece of **** and they could take me no problem.. So we took it out of town.. and showed them my piece of ****.
I applogize for posting this but i read the rules and it didnt say **** about not posting this kind of stuff so i did.

You old guyz can keep flamming me about "hurting innocent people" and how im a stupid immature retared 17yr lmao i think its funny... but i suggest you stop nothing you say is going to make me stop so its like talking **** to a tree.. i love America

on another note i was wondering if i should trade my v6 stang for a 5.0 stang
its in good condition and its white but i dont know if i should

Hahahaha, I used to be just like that, I thought I would be able to control my car no matter what since I've been driving a while now and have done many "stupid" things and came out good. Yeah that ended last Saturday when my car 180'd in the road and went into a ditch, no damage happened or anything like that, but I missed a telephone pole by less than 5 feet. That was a wake up call, I wasn't even speeding, just you never know what can happen you when combine wet pavement and worn tires. When it happened I was more pissed off than worried, because I was actually not able to control my car for once.

But don't worry, I assure you that you're luck will run out as well, be it a ditch, a car, an animal or a person. Will it be your fault? How are you to know that anyway? I was driving down my neighborhood a few months ago and a little girl darted across the street about 10 feet infront of me and I had to slam on the brakes, I didn't hit her, I was only going about 15mph, but had I hit her you can be damned certain that would have been my fault, it's hard to argue that hitting a pedestrian with your vehicle isn't "your fault"
So..I suggest you change your attitude and ego about that whole "I can and will always be able to control my car and not wreck" type of attitude before it bites you in the ***.

ok...first of all...if you had worn tires...that definately is YOUR FAULT, and second....I dont know how bad the visibility is when you look through your windshield, or if maybe there is a wall on both sides of the road you were driving through with little openings for people to run out of at random times to test your reaction time...but If you cant see a kid playing in the road ahead of you, or even playing on the sidewalk....then you ought to quit driving. And you should also know to take certain precautions and know when to anticipate things when stuff like that happens. And I wont always be able to control my car, but I know how NOT to let it get out of control. And if you would have hit that little girl..then it wouldnt have been your fault or the childs.....it would have been the parents fault.

You my friend are an accident waiting to happen. Do us all a favor, each time you drive be sure to let us know so the rest of us can get off the streets.

If is not what you say your do, but your attitude. BTW, ever burried a child of yours? I have.

Sorry, but I don't have exterior lighting on my car that lights up the neighborhood around me when I'm driving, the girl wasn't playing on the road in-front of me, there were kids ****ing with a basket ball in their driveway and she went running after the ball.

Don't act like you know every possible scenario and how to avoid it, you've been driving less than me for christ's sake, people like you always tend to like to think they've seen it all and know how to handle any situation because they "race" their cars in traffic and are such "skilled" drivers, but when something does happen and they **** up the "I told you so" **** hits the fan, either that or you're dead.

It should not be age, skill, or experience, but results! Did you know that 16 - 18 year olds get in more accidents then ANY other age group except those over 86 years old?

Let me state it another way with this little story:

There are two bullls (as in male cows) sitting on top of a hill overlooking a dozen hot-looking cows. The one bull-stud is a teenager and the other is an experienced 35 year olf bull.

The younger bull says to the older one:

"Hey George, look at all them hot-cows. I am run down the hill and go have sex with that one over there, then I am going to pass out from exhaustion"

The older bull then says "No Junior. You have it all wrong. I am going to walk slowly down the hill so I can conserve my energy and have nice love making with all of them one at a time".

And in today's day in age will cell phones and On-Star, it too easy to have someone call the cops on you. I have done it myself. I just about pulled a kid out of car window a few years ago. The little ***-wipe went flying through a stop sign and just about lifted the two tires off the grond going around the turn. My kids and others were playing near the street.

Tell that to the judge when your going to jail for involuntary manslaughter. I'm sure you have perfect car control and know exactly everything to do if your car was to go out of control. That whole 7 months or whatever has taught you all that. Keep driving the way you do buddy. We all do some speed bursts and little short races from time to time, but don't come in here acting all bad *** cause you think you can control every situation. I'll be waiting for your thread where you are telling us about how your car got totalled or your car is sitting in a ditch.

dude, you're a drama queen, and assuming that you arent posting all this **** for attention, and assuming you actually have burried one of your kids, I find that to be a little odd, because unless I was seeing things wrong, it said in your profile that you're 29. And unless you had a kid at age 15, i doubt your child died in a car related accident so why bring it up?

Basically, my impression of you is that all you want is attention.

dude, ok, apparently you cant tell the difference between cautious driving and blatent disregard for street signs.....I dont blame you, Id have beat his *** too.

I on the other hand, do not shoot through stops signs.

Im just like all of you, I dont want a ticket, and I dont want to **** up my car, and I dont want to kill someone. The **** you guys are making up, is just ridiculous. and as for the results of how often these things happen....and how many atal accidents involve teens........THINK ABOUT HOW MANY PEOPLE THERE ARE IN THIS COUNTRY ALONE....

I find it funny that all of you get so threatened and offensive when someone says they know how to control their car.

I never said I was the best.

But all it takes is common sense.

dude your like 17 and you think your invincible. Nothing is gonna catch up to you or you can get away with anything. Theres another member on this board who thought the same thing until it finally caught up with him and he got busted for something stupid. It changed his outlook on things and he's only I think a year older. I won't mention any names, but I'm sure some people know who I'm talking about. but of course you must be right and everyone else who has voiced their opinion and experiences must be wrong. Pull your head out of your ***. Your the typical 17 year old with a mustang and typical 17 year old period. Just take some of these people's advice and think about it.

I'm not telling you to stop racing and all that, but don't think you know everything. Something will alwasy end up happening sooner or later. Oh, and I feel bad for you if you think someone would use the death of a child just for attention.
