Wink 1 Last BBK ?

Hey guys,

As I might have mentioned Im pretty set on going with the BBK LT's, BBK Catted X, and the LM1's. But I have a question thats freaking me out...

The BBK X isn't chambered is it? That piece in the middle is just a support bracket? Because the last thing I want is a chambered X-pipe... That makes no sense..

And also what do you guys think of this setup? I want to rock my town and turn people inside out... this will definitely do it right?

Im ordering next week, so I want to make sure Im making the right decisions!

Thanks,
Mike

Yea but the o/r X with the LM1's sounds really raspy... So I don't want to go that route. I used to think I wanted o/r X, but now I have come to realize its going to sound bad. I would love the loudness, but I dont want it to sound like ****.

And I dont want the LM2's because they won't be loud enough for me.

The cats really don't take away from the loudness right? I mean sure a tad bit, but nothing really...

my friend has bbk lts, bbk o/r x, and flowmasters and it sounds absolutely amazing!

i don't like raspy exhaust either so if the lm1's sound raspy i'd go with cats too

Ive heard bad things about the BBK pipes quality, from MORE than one person. Just food for thought.

Heh, thats werid... Ive heard from MANY people that BBK is superb. Ive never really heard anything bad about them. Everyone says they look good for years, and they love them... Gains, HP, blah blah.. quality.

Guy I know has had his X-pipe for 4 going on 5 years now, he says it looks absolutely perfect. He was going to go with the SLP Headers, and so was I, but I really didn't want to spend the money, but he told me to save the money and go BBK because they are excellent, which is what he is doing now also... no need to spend the money.

I don't think there should be a problem.

Yea the flows are like 2-3 chambers, so that would kill the rasp. I want LOUD, but I dont want it to sound bad and since the SLP LM's are hollow mufflers, the cats will kill the rasp, but it will still be ridiculously loud just like I want it =)

I have heard the LM-1 with and w/o cats on an X pipe side by side, and the catless car is MUCH louder. I mean, 6 times louder. It is insanely, undrivable loud. So, if you want LOUD enough to wake up the dead, then remove the cats.

But, I would stick with the cats! OR, get an SLP X-pipe and you can remove the cats and replace with race pipes whenever you want.

MT, see thats what Im trying to gage though. I want LOUD, like I want people to me like WOW, wtf is that? LoL.

I want it to be like the old mustangs with the huge roars.. Like my next door neighbors 66' Vette. It roars, like ridiculously. I want it to be like that. I don't want to get the cats and be disappointed AGAIN (I have the magnaflows now and I HATE them.)

So based on my wants, what do you think, catted or o/r?
You said you've heard them both... Do you think I will be disappointed with the cats... And does the o/r pipe REALLY sound THAT bad? (Rasp, etc.)?

Going catless with that setup is too loud to be on the road IMO. Also, you might loose some power. I would go catted and I would really consider the SLP catted X pipe with the race pipes. That way you can still have the loudest car at shows and cruises, but be able to drive w/o blowing out windows.

I can tell you that I have stock headers, SLP catted X, and LM-1 and all the older guys love it. It sounds old-school. As much as I love to drive it, it is fun to drive behind it, but taste is subjective.

SLP X wont fit BBK Headers though, thats the problem. Otherwise I would go with that pipe. Thats what I wanted to do until I figured out it wouldn't fit.

And it is insane... Eronious to spend the money SLP wants for their full setup, IMO, When you can get the same "proven" performance and for the most part quality for other full setups. Dont get me wrong I love their products.. But I'd go MAC before I spend $800 on SLP Headers.

Why do you think the SLP X pipe won't fit the BBK headers?

Because many people including LMperformance.com have told me it will not fit. You would need to modify it significantly with welding. SLP uses clamps and BBK uses flanges, and BBK has a different design than SLP Headers so there will be a length issue from the BBK Headers to the SLP X-pipe.

Won't work =(

Hum....that's dumb. Will the BBK header fit up with a stock H pipe?

See, that is the part I don't understand. The SLP mid pipe is modular so it works with LT's or regular sized headers.

Modular is swapping cats and race pipes, thats it. It will only work with the SLP Headers because the system uses clamps, not flanges. And SLP Headers have a unique design, so they match up perfected with the X... therefore the X will be short on any "normally" designed headers. It sucks.

Blake, the SLP pipes wont fit the BBK because of the different connectors/flanges.

Correct, but also because the BBK LT's are shorter than the SLP LT's, due to their difference in design. So there will also be a length issue between the BBK LT's and the SLP X underneath the car when all said and done.
