Ah. What is the diameter of the new TB?
At the moment I'm looking at doing:
-11:1 comp
-HPS intake
-long tubes
-possibly cams (depends on how much money I have available.)
Care to guess how my numbers will compare to yours? I tried asking this before, but no one answered

i'm considering cutting up the HPS--chop off about an inch on the lower plenum and re-drill the holes for the bottom cover bolts and port out the whole intake--there really is waaaay more plenum area than my car needs and it might help with heatsoaking since the bottom of the plenum is litterly 1/4 inch from the lifter valley

4v intakes
R3D or someone who knows intakes... can you all chime in on this....
I am looking for a intake that will not kill the torque as bad as the sullivan, I have teh sullivan but im thinking about a Navi lower with a sheetmetal upper, like the one MMR sells....
or a 01 Cobra or 03-04 Mach 1 intake (same intake) .... which one will save the torque? Are they both similar? what are your thoughts?
The sheetmetal upper, i thought would be better for toque witha navi lower? and it would port match to my Navi heads fine... but i really needed to ask someone who knows more about this then myself... i can just build it i dont really understand all that runner length stuff and more here less there that you talk about all the time lol
Thanks for your help guys...
P.S. be out of Iraq hopefuly in time to go home and surprise the family at Xmas havnt been home for Xmas since ive been in... (lol only like 2 1/2 years but still mom is complaining about it lol )

Any before numbers available? Its nice to see the curve but it doens't mean much yet without a before/after comparison. Auto or stick? My auto setup made ~10 less hp and more tq with stock heads and a 4.6 PI intake, just didn't carry it out like that curve does. red's car, also with cnc heads and cams, already makes more, so we really need to see what difference the intake made by itself.
For myillwill's sake hope you don't become a proctologist.....

I'd do the cobra intake route with adapter plates until Bob releases a 4v intake.
Just get home safe. Before you head back, if you happen to find yourself talking to a cute little nurse named Lt. Burns and saying the name "Delilah" makes her really mad... tell her her brother says hi.

So, looks like Sleeping made 3% more hp/tq just on the intake and it let him close his hood and use a nitrous plate kit.
Adding 3% to my numbers and adjusting for all the gearbox variables and then tossing a dart at the phone book of possibilities leads me to expect ~290/340 if I were to just slap the intake on using my existing shorty headers. That would be about 10hp and 10tq gain over adapter plates. That's fully 60hp/tq more than my 4.6 ever made with full bolt on's and a great tune.

4v intakes
the cobra intake is probably better for overall power than the sullivan. The sullivan will make bigger peak numbers but loses a good bit of tq. The navi lower and box upper loses some tq similar to the sullivan but it fits nicely out of the box. Hood clearance becomes a major issue with the box and navi units but adapter plates and a cobra unit should be pretty easy to fit under a very small cowl or maybe under the stock hood if you drop the motor 1/2" with k-member spacers
I'd do the cobra intake route with adapter plates until Bob releases a 4v intake.

hmmm
well i guess in the end the best intake is the Aussie 290 kit that birdman sells was looking for an alternative, that wont cost me 1400 and be close to as good as the aussie kit....
but that intake would make the build distinguished... but man 2500 is alot.... if it was 2 grand, i would paypal him the money lol... 2500 just for a intake, no aftermarket fuel rails kinda sucks
thats alot of dough. lol and i will tell your sis hi if i see her hopefully i dont....
Ive never had a decathiter stuck inside my parts, but man im sure that would be extremely un comfortable and probably hurt like hell... so hopefully i dont ever have to do that....

the best part of that was, the initial part of the video was on motor
i didn't hit the ntirous until after he was already out of edge of the camera...notice how right about the time the silver car came into view the car seemed to accelerate a **** load faster---that was about the time i put a damned country mile on him

They idle nicely in a 4.6, and a 5.4 will tame them down a bit so should lump a little but not cause any drivability issues.
#5127
Must have been the nitrous run then, didn't take nearly long enough to be an n/a pull in 3rd, thats why I was asking about the gear...

I've been doing some figuring and it seems fitting that we step back and look at what the engine is making so everyone measures with a standard yardstick so to speak. We all take about 20% as our baseline for losses in a slushbox and about 15% for manuals. So:
if sleepingGT is making 272/316 to the wheels, so stack that 20% back on and we see 340bhp and 390btq estimated. That's impressive from a 335 inch engine.
I made on my best run 280/333 to the wheels, so stack my 15% back on and we get 330bhp and 390btq. Dammit... beaten again.
SleepingGT made 10hp better than me when you strip away all the layers. Wait till we both have our headers on. Mine are supposed to finish friday. We'll see about that.

just wait, i have a couple tricks for hunters motor.
also, the hps intake needs to be cleaned up alittle bit when you recieve it. the pors are ruff from casting and have a lip on them. i think that would effect your air flow greatly. i didn't realize it till i was working on mine over the weekend. so everyone getting one make sure you get the ports smoothed out before installation, after i have hunters done and redyno'd we'll see if it makes any diffrence to the final numbers.
