Just got done with a little email stream with Maximum Motorsports. Looks like they can and just might make the k-member spacers for 4v guys. Any of you 4v'ers close to done or ready for install want to help?

R3D, can you run your program with 8.4 to 1 comp ratio to see how much it says hp. would be compaired to your setup. Just curious so when I dyno with turbo I have somewhat of an idea of the increase.

yes, those marks all the way around the piston are from the valves hitting the piston and then the broken rod pushing it back up in there

With adapter plates in place, NA desktop dyno predicts 242rwhp with my cam and shorty headers. 315 with longtubes and a proper intake.

With adapter plates and shorties on 10.5:1 it predicts 280hp, and with longtubes and a proper intake it predicts 350.

Just dropping the CR 2 full points was on average worth about 30rwhp NA.

Just got a note that BBK long tubes only need to mod the passenger side primaries to work. Those of you that can't wait for long tubes, there you go. You'll still need to spend a little time with a welder or a little cash on a exhaust shop but it'll work.

Anyone that is or has bought adapter plates. How well was the port match to a ported head or non ported head. I'm seriously thinking of going with the Victor Jr. with my set-up and want to have an idea of how much porting im going to have to do to get things up to snuff!

ditto... my reichards and my custom ones that singlesupra had last both needed substantial porting for a match to a ported PI head.

Guys, for those that didn't get a PM from me, I'm going to try to get a GP going for the new intake now that it's so close to launch. I don't know what if any discount will be made available at this point but I've got just about enough committed to start asking for them.

Please confirm you're in via PM. Post in the thread too if you want but I need the PM. Those that already PM'd me... you're in.

can't deal with maybe's right now... only hard signups for those that are certain they don't want to deal with adapter plates. I don't know what anyone calls a substantial discount...

Quick question off topic that R3D suggested that I ask in here:

I plan on doing the swap, and I was wondering if the mounting bracket from a vortech for a 4.6 will bolt up to the front of the 5.4 block? I am planning on doing custom piping for the setup in order to run an intercooler. Having that mounting bracket work though will make things a LOT easier for me though.

Thanks for the help!

Just joined this site. I saw a link from another forum and this looks like a good thread. I have my 5.4 dhoc built and finished. I am now stuck on getting my vortech supercharger bracket to line up with the 5.4 cover. What is the easiest way to get this to work? I saw that somewhere that someone welded a cobra front to one but not sure how everything would line up. Thanks

I'm getting ready to put mine in as soon as the stock 2v gives out. What exactly is the purpose of the spacers?

Also wondering on this as I have a YSI that I will be wanting to mount onto my 5.4 DOHC.

The point of the spacers is the same point of the drop motor mounts on the '00 Cobra R and that is to lower the engine to give you more room for it.

Hey guys, still following the thread and keeping an eye on everything going on in here.

Red, i recieved the PM, but regretably i'll be sitting out on the GP.

Looking forward to seeing the resaults you guys will have. not only dyno charts, but driver feedback and "crosses fingers" timeslips.

How everything turns out around here will determin the fate of my now 100% stock GT. Not having anything tied up into the car thus far gives me options. I hope the 5.4l swap will be at the top of the lists. I'm almost comfortable enough to start.

Ahhh okay. So that means I could run a little taller intake manifold? Or would that just allow me to clear my '01 Cobra intake?

no worries. We've got a couple months... you may get in anyway. I needed enough people to make asking worthwhile. I've done sent my request to HPS ... we'll see what they say.

Guys, I'll do some research and even see about maybe getting a specific bracket produced from vortech and procharger for this. There's enough people swapping and wanting blowers that it's going to be worth their while. I have exactly zero pull there but you never know. They like to play with us hot rodders.

I've sent two emails to Vortech and never got a response. Good luck. The bracket is all I need to get my car running. Will cost me more to try to go NA then try to get a bracket custom made I'm sure.

Ok... spoke with ATI tech support. Basically for their line of compressors we're only half screwed and not that badly at that.

Basically for the bracket, you'll need to take a plate of 1/2" aluminum, trace out and drill for the blower head unit mounting holes and a place for the pulley to pass through or hang over as the case ends up, then just find any 3 front cover bolts to use to hold that bracket. You'll attach there using some standoffs. I'm going to need a procharger bracket pattern. Anybody got a bracket and a few minutes to make a tracing-rubbing of it?

For vortech, it's pretty much the same. Should be easy to fab up or cheap for your local machine shop to whittle out.

I'm gunna talk to HPS about it though... that's actually something they'd do really well. Aluminum work is their whole gig.

if you have the ***** to try something diffrent, which is why we are all on here anyway... take a 4.6 timing cover and 5.4 timing cover and cut them on top of one another and have the 4.6 piece welded onto the 5.4 bottom one. then your bracket will bolt right up and just lean alittle(like an inch). if i was going with a standard blower instead of a one-off one thats what i would do. kinda crude way to explain it but you guys should picture it in your head as you read this....
