for a NA bolt on 5.4, you may want 21# injectors if you don't have them but 19's are probably fine. The stock pump is fine. If you do nitrous or blower you DEFINITELY need a Focus pump and 30lb or better injectors.
I'm using some 30# injectors, billet rails and custom lines. I always go too far.

no, im going to upgrade the system later to twin super car GT pumps, When i put the supercharger on... but not doing that for atleast a couple months after i get the motor built and all the kinks worked out... want to make sure its perfect before i add another problem lol.
All right this car is bad a$$ !!! I rode in it today, very fun . It felt like a 03-04 cobra. I want to build up a mustang with a 5.4 in it.... Maybe a 94-98 stang. Some day.... I have been looking around. Not sure if ill get one yet, but if i find a good deal, i might have to bild that track car i want to build up

im definately interested in this swap, ive been sending pm's to r3dn3ck on another site im registered on, i think a 5.4 2v will be next the next motor in the mustang
Very nice man! I am hoping to be dropping mine in tonight, gonna put on the flywheel/clutch before dropping it in. All thats left is to install the valve cover gaskets/clutch crap then shove it in.
R3d, quick q. I read on that other site you said "I used frpp shortys so I could drop it in from the top", does that mean it will not drop right in with the stockers or were you refering to longtubes?
Finally gonna snap some pics tonight of the car and progress, woohoo.
For anyone just tuning in, its a stock bottom end 5.4 out of a navi(true flattops) and stock mustang heads(same as truck). Stock cams,
11.3ish comp
stock heads
stock bottom end
stock cams
4.10's
exhaust
slicks
LOT of n20(200-250 2 stage)
Well, she is between the shock towers and ready to fire up engine wise. However, ran into a small setback, my new spec stage 2 is for an 11" flywheel and mine is a 10.5. WTF was I thinking? I allways though that 96-98 cobras and 99+ gt's used 11" clutches. Just gotta get the correct clutch now and finish it up. Sorry, no pics as I cant find the ole ladys digi cam, but DAMN does this thing look right at home. Talk about a sleeper mod, with the stock airbox installed looks JUST like a 4.6. I guess I was expecting it to look different or something, but Id rather it be stealthy!

nice... the 4.10's are going to be a riot trying to get traction.
Yeah, that was intended to mean short style headers in general but FRPP, stock and JBA shorty all drop in easily with the motor. They're all about the same size.

I have an 11" 8 bolt flywheel. pay shipping and a gratuity...I've got 50 bucks in it. BRAND NEW nodular iron 03 cobra part. I went 10.5"
I also have a 11" pressure plate and a spare fidanza friction surface for 10.5 and 11" flywheels.

wow nice
ya i hate getting clutches and stuff.. can be confusing.....
ok i am lieing id kick my self in the balls if i did that so close to gettng it running and i did that! lol
r3d, I would love to go 11" flywheel but the way my luck goes the larger than stock clutch will hit something in the damn bell. I guess Im going to talk to some of the locals, see if I can pick one up asap, perhaps not even have to be shipped.
so what if i used a lightning lower then put a eaton or KB on it would that work...
id have to get a new alternator though...
but anyone else know why this wouldnt work?
It will stick out of the hood a LONG ways, if that dont bother you then go for it dude! I am contemplating that myself. Try to find a pic of a 5.4 L engine installed in a mustang, even a 6" cowl wouldnt cover it HAHA

This can be done in a space efficient way but it's still gunna require a pretty big cowl hood.
The lightning lower is meant to contain a heat exchanger and that is held in with the mid-plate which also adapts the blower head unit and its attached plenum. Now 4" of the stock Lightning blower assembly's top space usage is for the upper plenum. Don't forget that the lightning blower itself is kinda tall.
If you adapt the lower plenum to the 03 cobra blower and plenum you'll save a little bit of height. Now the downside... the blower snout is still gunna probably grind away at the underside of the hood. The 5.4 is just plain tall. Centri's and turbos though are a great alternative.

Looks like the first units will be done in 6-8 weeks. A little longer than we'd hoped for but super fast nonetheless considering the decision to try to produce it was only made like 3 months ago.
I'll be getting the first one at which time I'll take days off work to install it on my car right away and get my little arse directly to a dyno for the payoff.
My simulator says the LT's on an adapter plate motor are worth 40rwhp. It says that the intake is worth another 25 on top of that with longtubes or, 10hp and 5tq with the shorties I have now. That's a predicted real gain from an intake. So far the dyno sim has been exactly right when it's had correct data. I've got the recipe nailed now so keep them hopes up.

well im wondering what kind of modifications we would have to do to them.. maybe there is a brand were we dont have to do nothing to them... just drop them in from the bottom...
