Default New altenator only lasted one year.

Whats a good replacement altenator for a s/c 00 GT with two amps and subs? The charging gauge started moving gradually to "L" before it just died. After a few minutes the car had a little juice for the accessories to come on. I had to get it towed 10 miles from home.

Youll need to figure out what kind of current your audio system is pulling. You can find this out by AMPs = Volts (14.4) / Watts (your RMS rating total on your amps) then add 60 for your normal accessories to the total amperage pull.

The altenator doesnt have an warranty and i am kind of broke so i am going to just put on a local parts store special. Anyone have an idea what a factory OEM price would be? And i probably ruined the Optima red topped battery too. I am going to get them both tested tomorrow and look into a capacitor for my sound system.

Capacitors are worthless. Get a 2nd battery in the back if you cant get a bigger alternator.

I had my Optima battery replaced today(36 month warranty). I installed the battery and cranked it up and the battery light is on but the charging system is ok. I am going to take the altenator off tomorrow and get it tested. ain10:
