I was looking at a GT on yahoo the other day and I saw a picture of the cars engine, and I know that 94-04 GT's have 4.6l engines in them, but it said "5.0l H.O." on the engine. Is that normal or did I stumble across a car that had an engine swap?

All 94 and 95 GTs have 5.0 engines in them from the factory.....The Cobras also have a 5.0 just with GT-40 heads and a better flowing cobra intake.....
They didnt start using the 4.6 until 1996.....

the 5.0 made less power out of the box but any level of mods to the 5.0 will be waaaaay more worth it than on the 4.6 if you like to race dyno numbers. The 4.6 and 5.4's have a LOT stronger block and you can spin them to huge rpms thanks to the lighter valvetrain and reduced number of moving parts. Basically it comes down to what you want it for. I prefer the newer OHC modular motors even if they are handicapped by a 3.5" bore.
