Hey, I am going to be helping my friend with a PI head swap on his 96 GT. We called the local U-pull it and they have some 5.4 engines in stock there, and was wondering which heads I should be looking for, because I know there is a difference between the Romeo and Windsor blocks, but I am unsure of what that means in terms of the bolting on the cylinder head.
He was also looking at a VT Stage 2 N/A cam, but I saw in another post someone recommending the Stage 1 cam... what would be the reason for this? And he is looking at doing gears and longtubes at the same time as the head swap. Thanks for your input! |

if you pull 5.4 heads, they will be Windsor heads and will require different cam covers and some 10mm bolts and studs to attach the front chain cover.
now you could use the truck cam covers but then the oil fill will be on the other side

If you do get the 5.4 heads, try to get the valve covers if they have them, or find some 13 bolt style(windsor) The oil cap being on the passenger side won't hurt or be in the way of anything either.

He didn't mention any kind of special intake...Plus, it really isn't a big deal since the only major thing that would get in the way is the intake inlet tube which you can always move out the way during an oil change or use a long narrow funnel.

oh and some people don't change there own oil, so it is a big deal. now if you want to split hairs, thats fine but wth all the mis-information in this thread(and the other one @ PI heads) it will only lead others into trouble and problems, problems that I get asked via the net or over the fone and if I can dis-spell a few myths here, well then that's 1 less I'll have to answer in one of my forums or on the fone.

If he goes with a Bullitt intake and a drivers side oil fill then he will have to make his own inlet tube to fit around the oil fill, or modify the fill somehow. Hell be a lot better off getting a passenger side oil fill in that case. Plus, whos to say he wont go that route later on down the road.

There you go....great info, now i know to never listen to your info, since most FORD workers have to look up what a gasket is or does when you ask about something, oh and give you that deer in the headlight look when you ask simple questions..thanks randy!! FU 2 ![]() |

Wow. Theres a reason why we want Randy here. You on the other hand, we could care less about. You're way out of line here and arguing with the wrong person.

Well then...looks like someone woke up with a sandy vagina.
Randy drives a mustang of his own, he isnt just some mindless parts drone that works over at some Ford dealership. If there is a question on these cars, he definately knows the answer. And if he doesnt, I know that one of his shop crew / other crew knows it. I've been to his dealership personally and met some of the guys there. They know their stuff. Now, as for you Saleen 330, you are WAY out of line on that. Its one thing to disagree, but its quite another to bash someone, and not just anyone, but a MAJOR member of these forums, and tell them to go and **** themselves. That I'm not going to tollerate, whether they are a professional collegue, a friend, or just some random member. I'm going to leave this at the current 30-Day ban. If you decide to come back after that, then good for you. I do give second chances to everyone, but take advantage of it, and I will blow you right out of the water. Dont push your luck.
