Default SCT Xcal2 vs Diablo Predator......

So which one is the best? I am looking for a tuner that has the easiest timing adjustability. I used to have the predator but it was hard trying to figure out how to change the timing and the fuel trims. With the diablo its kinda hard to change the fuel trims when they only give you a 2 ranges of RPMs to work with. There was no 87 octane tune like advertised. The diablo tune DID add some noticeable power but I am looking for more adjustability. I will be using this mostly for nitrous tuning but im sure ill have the performance tune on it while N/A.

diablo does it in % values. sct adjustment are actual numbers. if i had to do it over again, i would have went with the x-cal 2

Thats the thing....I hated how they used percents! I couldnt ever figure it out so I got rid of it. Now I am needing one and I dont want another tuner that uses odd percents and all that. Looks like the Xcal 2 is the way to go......

The shop around here said that they ONLY use diablosport tuners?! Why is that? Why wouldnt they be able to use the Xcal 2? Also they said that they can only tune the car with a flipchip since I have nitrous. I thought that you could store like 3 tunes? Another shop told me that Delk just doesnt know how to use a flash program. I dunno .....

to be honest, i thought that sct could have 3 tunes. do you have to use delk? i know they are closer to you but have you read the bad stories about their tunes? the only one i trust from delk is mike edwards. we will be taking a trip to dynospeed in 2 or 3 weeks. it will be on a saturday. if you want you can follow us up there (dropping off my buddys 02gt and picking up my car) and you can let joe tune your car. then we could all follow each other back. and i just noticed that you are running a walbro pump. are you having any problems with it? that pump is not for a var. voltage car. they can fail on our cars. might want to go with a focus pump. anything over a 100 shot you might want to go with an avator pump.

The only reason that I go to delk is because theyre some good guys and they dont charge 5$ a pound for n20 unlike Tennessee Speed Sport. Mike is a cool guy and he has a badass lightning.

I need to save some money up for a tune. How much does joe charge? If im able to get enough money then yea thatll be a great idea! I am about to be out of school now and Im working with my dad doing lanscaping. I can definately do it i think.

The only reason I went with the walbro is because mike told me it was the best pump. I needed one because my stock pump had gone bad and I needed the car up and running. Since I was in a hurry I didnt do any research about the pumps for our cars. I had the walbro installed and it fits and works great sofar. I havent had any problems with it. I have a fuel safety switch on it and im always getting good pressure. I may end up swapping on an aviator pump this summer just so I am sure it wont fail on me. Mines been running great for about 1 year though.

some people get lucky on the pump you have, but not many. glad to hear it is doing ok. as far as price of tuning goes if i remember correct its $250 + the cost of the x-cal 2(399 i think). if you want to call and chect them out ask for joe beegle and tell them dale sent ya if you dont know who he is he tuned the TT cobra that won KOTS this year.

I give the same advice anyone makes a thread like this.....go with the hand held tuner that performance shops are using in your area. If you go with
XCal 2 and the performance shops in your area are using Diablo (vice versa) then you'll be screwed if you want a custom tune. I didn't think about this when I got the Diablo Predator and had to look damn hard to find a tuner that uses Diablo.....most are using SCT....I ended up ditching the Predator and had the tuner load a custom tune directly to my ECU, but that's another story.

I had a predator and it was nice, my car seems to like the SCT a bit better, has tons of functions and you can add their 90mm big mouth maf as well. Right a way I noticed that the xcal can calibrate mass air, tire size and injector size, I dn't believe my predator could do those things. I only switchied because Bob Kurgan will be tuning my car and most dealers around here are using SCT now. I would go with an SCT and never look back, i didn't.
